Company was organized in 2008 as a general contracting firm and sold to a local large drywall contractor desiring to engage in general contracting and remain anonymous. Responsibilities included assisting in starting up a new company, hiring key personnel; setting goals and securing new work; developing and maintaining working relationships with new and existing clients and local architects; oversee contract administration. Other duties included preparing RFP/RFQ's, preparing bid scopes, preparation and distribution of bid documents, receive and evaluate vendor proposals, prepare and issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements using Timberline project management system software, prepare project schedules using Microsoft Project, conduct weekly on site meetings with client, architect and vendors, monitor project cost for budget compliance, update project schedule, prepare submittals, maintain project submittal log, and prepare closeout documents for my own projects.
During my employment I instituted 1) a paperless document program for the company, which included all documents related to construction projects, 2) an on line execution of subcontract agreements, and online submission, review and approval of subcontractor billings and 3) a collaborative global web site where information on all projects could be stored, recorded, and shared with company employees and third parties on a need to know basis.
Reason for Leaving: Bond lines were reduced for company and diverted to business owner’s development operations for small nursing homes.

Responsibilities included estimating and managing all projects for private and public sector clients. Duties included preparing RFP/RFQ's, preparing bid scopes, preparation and distribution of bid documents, receive and evaluate vendor proposals, prepare and issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements using Timberline project management system software, prepare project schedules using Microsoft Project, conduct weekly on site meetings with client, architect and vendors, monitor project cost for budget compliance, update project schedule, prepare submittals, maintain project submittal log, prepare closeout documents on my own projects.

During my employment I started the company on a path to going paperless, established the procedures for FTP storage of project drawings and specifications, streamlined the bid process, introduced electronic on line bidding, expanded the use of detailed spreadsheets (excel) to estimating.
Reason for Leaving: opportunity for advancement was limited and family elected not to move from Lakeland to Naples.

Company was founded in 1994 following the expiration of J.L. Ewell and closure of Ewell Construction Company. Employees of J. L. Ewell Construction were moved to new company. Responsibilities included starting up a new company, moving and retaining key personnel; setting goals and securing new work; developing and maintaining working relationships with new and existing clients and local architects; oversee contract administration; active role & oversee project management; active role & oversee estimating; oversee human resources; oversee accounting; assist in the design process on design/build projects.
Reason for Leaving: Demands of time due to involvement in the hotel industry required me to wind down my construction activities. Company was closed in 2005.
LAKELAND HOTEL PARTNERS
Managing General Partner
Company was established to develop, build, own and operate limited and full service hotels. Responsibilities included creating a partnership; hiring key personnel; securing credit lines and loans for acquisition and expansion;; establishing goals and budgets; establishing relationships with franchise companies and clients; managing a full service hotel; prepare annual budgets for lenders and partnership; prepare and submit annual tax returns; serve on four boards with ITT Sheraton; provide a return on investment to partners. The partnership was dissolved in 2005 and the assets sold. The final tax return for the partnership showed a $550,000 plus taxable income after all losses carry forward.
J.L. EWELL CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
VP of Construction
Responsible for re-activating a dormant company and hiring key personnel; setting goals and securing new work; developing and maintaining working relationships with new and existing clients and local architects; initiate and maintain an active sales and marketing program for the company; establish company policies; assist in development of company safety program; execute project buyouts; establish budgets for new projects; secure all permits for construction; completing projects on time and under budget; hiring project managers and superintendents; assist in the design process on design/build projects. Company became a leading construction firm in the area and experienced year to year growth in revenues and completed over one-hundred million dollars in construction. Projects included motels, hotels, schools and military contracts. Major projects included Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Lakeland, Florida, 102 unit housing project for the Farmers Home Administration and a 35 counter grocery store (commissary) at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida.

This was a transition employment while I was trying to decide whether to pursue a career in either the power industry or construction. The majority of the work was residential rehabilitation under a HUD program sponsored by the City of St. Petersburg. All work was primarily self-performed.
US NAVY
Engineering Watch Supervisor
Responsible for operation of a naval nuclear power plant aboard a fleet ballistic missile submarine. Naval career included two deterrent war patrols aboard the USS Henry Clay, a two and one-half year overhaul of the USS Henry Clay. Accomplishments included qualifications on all engineering watch stations including Engineering Watch Supervisor; installation of a new reactor core; engineering and propulsion plant upgrades; sub-safe package; crew re-certification for naval nuclear plant operation; crew certification for torpedo and nuclear missile weapons. Final duty was aboard the USS Wood Wilson (SSBN 644) as an advisor to the engineering department for the ships annual ORSE (Operational Reactor Safeguard Exam).
