I was hired on as a journeyman welder, and re-certified on the required material(3/8" plate). All of the positions I tested for passed, and I was then hired on to the position as a welder. Most of the time I worked from blueprints and did most jobs alone in the shop, where I had all the tools and welding machines I needed. Most of my work was welded with flux cored arc welding automatic welding process, some jobs were done with the stick welding process. I was able to do a few jobs at the ship yard, where I would of rather been; then in the shop.

This job was mostly tig welding and mig welding. Their was not a lot of fabrication because the military has some one to do various tasks of a fabricator. On this job i mostly did welding, because I am a journeyman level welder i was to set the machine, gasses, and weld parts that came with a completion check off list.
These parts were mostly table tops, cabinets and doors, parts that were for the navy ships. My duties for most of the days were to just weld required beads to standard code and prevent warping, as the material i was welding were thin stainless and aluminum parts. My most challenging task was keeping my temperature at a setting that would allow me the standard code weld and reduce the warping in the overall structures. The structures varied from thirteen foot to three foot counter tops and cabinets.
