Employed as a Medical Technologist at MS Urology Clinic. I was hired

to perform phlebotomy of patients, prepare specimens drawn for running on

the instruments for either PSA or Testosterone or chemistries on its' analyzer.

I also dipstick urines and do microscopic readings of all urines. I also plate

the urines that need culturing and perform the Microbiology for getting the ID's

and susceptibilities of those organisms and resulting to the respective doctors

for their patients. Now, due to the renovation of the lab, all I am allowed to

do is dipstick urines and do microbiology. I truly miss the patient contact that I

had with doing phlebotomy of my patients.

I perform all the duties a microbiologist performs, including but not limited to receiving specimens, reading the benchwork, as well as performing testing for identifications and susceptibilities of the organisms found growing on the specimens. I also perform the concentration, inoculation of tubes, reading of AFB stains, and reading of the TB slants. I work receiving specimens, entering them into the computer, plating of these specimens and then the reading of those plates inoculated for the specific specimen.
