I am responsible for quality control of my department. My department consists of Macintosh and PC base computers. I manage the latest software to include presswise anTrapwise. My responsibilities include receiving customer files from various media, preflighting and preparing them. They are sent through a network to various workstations. From a Mac Rip Station I can produce film or mylar plates. Then files are imaged at either the Panther 34P or the Hewlett Packard 750C Designjet or sent to the Docuctech 135 for proofing.

This preparation included checking all files for correct support files' tiff, eps, and photo shop. Also checking fonts, page size, folds and die cuts then to prepare for trapwise or imposition or to trap manually if possible. Sometimes output went to laser or Fujifirst proof or to film (ECRM or DS system) depending on size of final piece. I was also involved with file maintenance and job back up to Dat tape.

Complete Pre Press Environment. I worked three twelve-hour days Monday-Wednesday. My responsibilities included preparing and outputting customer files for stripping, from disk, modem, Bernoulli, Syquest or optical to film through Scitex Dolev 800 with full auto frames. Also sent files through NetCopy to Barco for output on a Megasetter or Gigasetter (47"x 63") or (63" x 96".) Also output one and two color books through Preps 2.0 or Imposition in thirty-two pages spreads. Did file management, backing up of company files to optical. Involved with troubleshooting in the department among systems Mac Quadra 950's, 9500, 81 00, Power PCs. Majority of the work was four color or more, produced in programs such as Quark Express 3.3 PageMaker 5.0, Freehand 5.0 or Illustrator 5.5 or 6.0, Diskdoubler, Stuffit and Photoshop 3.0.4.
