Professional Experience

2004 – Till Date Spectra Energy Gas Transmission

Senior Process Engineer

• Providing operation engineering support to operation group by

o Presently proving operation engineering support to Empress Gas plant and PTC product pipe line from 2007. From 2004 to 2007 provided operation engineering support to 1.0 BSCFD Fort Nelson Gas sweetening plant and mid stream gas sweetening and sour condensate fractionation facilities in Peace arch and Jedney area.

o Prepared plant optimisation report document suggesting change in plant operation and capital modification (estimated cost of $ 0.5 M). This will enhance C2 recovery from 58-60% to 65 -67% and C3 recovery from 90% to 95% (generate revenue from $7.0 M to $ 18 M per annum).

o Monitoring plant operation closely on daily basis. Giving expert opinion to operation group during abnormal situation, in optimizing equipment performance and maximum recoveries under different plant operating condition.

o Checking equipment, catalyst, amine solution, TEG and desiccant performance. Providing support during catalyst sweep out, heat soak, refractory curing, amine loading, and process optimization.

o Provided engineering support during plant commissioning start-up and shutdown.

o Developed Fort Nelson and Empress gas plant simulation models using Pro II. The empress plant simulation model is embedded with historian/ PI data. This has helped in micro detailing plant performance and energy cost.

o Carried out HAZOP for empress plant utility system and West DOE gas plant.

o Dealt with cooling water microorganism problem replacing traditional bleach with ClO2 treatment programme. Reviewed CLO2 technology with respect to existing water treatment programme, environmental requirement and corrosion.

o Identifying plant operational related problems and developed cost effective solution example Rail car vapour recovery project, Fort Nelson smokeless project, Richardson brine water study, rich amine filter and amine solution replacement.

• Provided engineering support during plant outage.

o Prepared 40-50 engineering packages for design change and modification in specified time. This has saved out source engineering cost, helped in completing projects in time and met plant operational need.

o Prepared MOC documents for design change and modification jobs.

o Inspection carried out for ensuring equipment integrity with process engineering requirement viz. refractory lining condition, tower packing/ plate condition, exchanger tubes and corrosion attack. Planned repairs / forecasted equipment purchase requirements.

• Project engineering support to capital and O/M projects.

o Project team operation process engineer for $ 25M West DOE gas sweetening facility. Checked P1 P2 and P3 stage drawing, made suggestion to meet operation need. Actively participated during HAZOP meetings.

o Worked on sulphur plant capacity and its reliability at Fort Nelson Gas Plant. This has improved efficiency from 95.5% to 98%. Improved sulphur plant efficiency from 95.5% to 98% by upgrading instrumentation and laying up one of the S plant unit.

o Executed minor capital projects ex. S plant instrument upgrade ($1.0M), rich amine filter project, smokeless flare project ($1.9M), Green House Gas emission and S plant layup projects. Developed conceptual design for some of the project like Fort Nelson smokeless flare project, rail car vapour recovery project etc.

o Presently working on multiple capital projects amounting from $15 M to 200 K example PTC pipe line Herbert pump project, zero liquid discharge, cooling water system upgrade, analyser up grade project, vapour recovery, plant optimization and brine water project.

• Reviewed Fort Nelson Gas plant and Empress gas plant capacity utilization with respect to business need. Determined benefits risk and identified operational requirements.

• Carried out residue gas cooler tube, caustic re-boiler tube, S plant Acid gas heater tube failure analysis, amine absorber failure analysis, S plant reliability study, amine solution HSAS clean up job.

1982 – 2004 Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited – India

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation is India’s largest Oil and Gas exploration and Exploitation Corporation, producing about 25 MMT of Crude oil and 22 BSCM of natural gas.

1997-2004 Ahmedabad and Assam Oil Field Projects

Superintending Engineer (Production)

• Worked under engineering and procurement group. Given engineering support to oil and gas gathering facilities in Assam and Ahmedabad oil field.

• Drawn out specification for process equipments as example separators, exchangers, valves, pumps, catalyst, packing, desiccant etc. Evaluated technical bids, prepared scope, managed contracts and capital budget for minor and major capital projects.

• Designed and executed three phase skid mounted horizontal test separator project for well testing, three phase vertical test separator and knock out drum project Lakwa oil facility. Managed capital projects from 200 K to 12 M.

• Prepared capital budget, monitored and updated expenditures and forecasted capital cost for budgeted items. Monitored procurement and supply of capital items. Reviewed time to time budget utilization, implementation projects and in time supply of items.

1987-1997 Hazira Gas Processing Plant

Dy. Superintending Engineer (Production) / Executive Engineer (Prod)

Worked in multi discipline project and commissioning team from 1987 to 1990 of LPG plant, Gas sweetening plant, sour condensate fractionation and sulphur recovery plants Phase I and Phase II ( Each phase 10MMSCMD of sour gas and 7000 CUMD sour condensate processing capacity). From 1990-1997 worked in operation engineering group giving engineering support in plant operation and integrity.

• Commissioned LPG, Gas Sweetening Phase I and Phase II plants.

• Operation engineer for Gas sweetening plant phase I and II, Sulphur recovery plant, LPG plant, sour condensate distillation/fractionation and NGL distillation plants.

• Increased LPG productivity by change in cooling temperature from +5 to (-)5 degree Celsius in dew point depressant plant. This resulted in more recovery of C3 + hydrocarbon from sweetened gas supplied to consumers.

• Identified losses of tri ethylene glycol from the glycol dehydration column. Applied high efficiency demister and lowered gas flow rate to minimize TEG losses. This has reduced 80% of losses.

• Carried out inspection and prepared reports of LPG spheres, NGL tanks, fractionation and absorption columns, KOD, pipelines, reaction vessels and other static equipments using various NDT methods (DP, MPI, UT etc.). Worked with regulatory bodies in obtaining plant approvals, licensees and facility environmental permissions.

• Carried out repair of 17 M dia. LPG sphere and 20,000 KL NGL tank under ASME codes.
