OBJECTIVE
To help manufacturing companies stay competitive by using my Manufacturing Management, Training Management and Self Employment skills.
EDUCATION
MBA-St. Thomas University, St. Paul, Minnesota
BS-Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, Owatonna, Minnesota
WORK EXPERIENCE
Management Professional
Focused Factory Manager-for a Window Hardware Manufacturer
Had direct supervision of a Quality Technician, Plant Supervisor, Secretary-for 3 shifts
Worked in a team of other Production Supervisors and Managers to implement JIT
Developed and executed a implementation plan for Just In Time
Reduced cycle times for the Hinge Focused Factory by eliminating wasteful tasks and implementing a KanBan system.
Increased inventory turns by working with the hourly and salaried employees to identify and solve process problems causing increased inventory. Implemented a focused attack on reducing lot sizes and reducing our need for forklifts.
Helped implement setup reduction for the Punch Press Department-went from 4 hours to less than ten minutes.
Had financial responsibility for the Double Hung Focused Factory.
Responsible for all the production of the Double Hung Focused Factory-safety, quality, staffing, P&L, and training. (3 shift operation)
Plant Operations Manager for a Metal Forging Company Union Environment
Cleaned and organized the Manufacturing environment-purchased a floor sweeper and scrubber and implemented daily cleaning of the shop.
Implemented material handling changes that made moving parts and tools safer and faster.
Implemented Safety Meetings and worked with production to work safely.
Installed a new dust collection system that made the plant safer and cleaner.
Implemented collecting the metal shavings and recycling them rather than throwing in the trash. Garbage costs went down and we received money from the recycling.
Supervisor-for the 2nd and 3rd shifts plant wide-quality, production, discipline, staffing, and reviews. Had three lead-people, one quality person, and maintenance directly reporting to me. Responsible for the work of the production employees in Punch Press, Die Casting, Plating, Machining, Assembly and Tool & Die.
Process Improvement Coordinator---transitioned the management style from a top down style to a participatory style by implementing Quality Circles and then Just In Time. This effort was very successful because employees were taught how to identify, analyze the problems in terms of waste, cost and scrap and then to recommend solutions to top management by doing a cost benefit analysis. Many of these employees went on to be promoted because of the leadership they demonstrated. Both Management and hourly employees felt this was a good process.
