Enclosed is my resume for an Accountant / Water Resources

Associate Agribusiness

position.

As a graduate from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona I majored in

Agribusiness Management and Food Marketing. Additionally, I minored in Agronomy

to broaden my agricultural scope. My current employment interests are in all

areas of agricultural business and marketing, ranging from farm to market.

As a

grocery business management intern I performed cashiering and customer service,

replenished produce and meat department

display cases, restocked grocery

department shelving, and constructed promotional displays. I also evaluated

personnel and store discrepancies, organized stock room, exercised inventory receipt and control, and

monitored waste to reduce shrinkage and control profit loss.

As an instructional aide, farm manager, and tutor for Valley Center Middle

School, I acquired knowledge of green house operations, modern composting,

multiple hydroponic systems, and livestock care. My responsibilities included

but were not limited to student tutoring, herbicide application, plant propagation,

facility construction and maintenance, and irrigation.

Additionally, my employment background highlights 20 years of naval service,

where as a Navy Counselor, I assisted commands in organizing and implementing

an aggressive enlisted career development and command retention program. I was

the principal advisor to commanding officers on policies and regulations

related to Navy career planning matters. I evaluated enlisted career

development programs at a command level, and supported subordinate commands. I

also supervised and coordinated the interviewing and counseling efforts,

provided primary technical assistance in supporting other subordinate members

of the command's career development team, and maintained awareness of revisions

and innovations in career development programs. It was through access to Navy

directives, reference materials, experience, and training that I counseled

individuals and gave presentations to naval personnel and their family members

on the advantages of career opportunities in the Navy. I prepared career

development board applicant background data sheets, coordinated career

development boards, screened and evaluated personnel for various duty

assignments, and conducted career information training lectures. Lastly, I

coordinated transition assistance management program requirements, provided

guidance on educational programs, and counseled individuals on rating

conversions and school options.

I also supervised numerous payroll, accounting, and administrative departments

acquiring high degrees of skill and accuracy in the performance of my duties.

While in this capacity I accurately maintained financial records, balanced

financial reports, and I audited the work of subordinates. My extensive

knowledge of payroll and accounting rules, regulations and procedures,

accounting and bookkeeping principles and methods are from government

operations. However, I also have an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting to

add to my credentials.

I am currently in the research phase leading to a Master’s of Science in

Regenerative Studies/Sustainability. My thesis will focus on comparing light

regimes to improve vegetable growth in controlled environments while reducing

natural resource consumption. I am not required to attend the university while

in this phase. I am able to work and

complete this thesis on my personal time.

I have excellent business English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation

skills and am proficient in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks, with both hardware

and software knowledge. Finally, my customer service skills are excellent.

Lastly, I

have knowledge of weeds and herbicides, soils, forage systems, plant

physiology, resource management, and three years of experience in growing and

managing an organic Valencia grove.
