Enterprise Change Management

Senior member of Enterprise Change Management team focused on ensuring the successful completion of changes in Infrastructure and Applications in a variety of diverse environments and platforms (Windows, Unix, and Mainframe). Helped design, implement, and manage processes and procedures adopted company wide. Brought in and rolled-out new tools to help manage the documentation, tracking, approvals cycle, and completion status of all changes in both pre-production and production (tools were TeamTrack and then Mashups, both from Serena Software). Designed and led training classes on Change Management and on using the Change Management tools. Led Change Management Meetings used as a forum for ensuring all aspects of changes are communicated and are positioned for success. Helped manage projects to improve reporting to Senior Executive staff in regards to change accuracy and characteristics. Helped create disaster recovery programs for department. Last contract was with Simutest, where effort is in the development, testing and sales of a CVS-based Configuration Management and Release software tool. Focus is on product design, coordination of testing, and managing promotion of product for the chip, hardware and software industries.

Reason for Leaving: Family move to Sacramento

Previous contract was with HEWLETT PACKARD in Cupertino, CA as a contract Release / Project Manager. Effort was managing monthly upgrades of Oracle-based CRM System used by HP’s global Sales and Marketing teams. Designed and enhanced lifecycle processes between Customer, Oracle, and development resources. Reduced monthly upgrade time from nearly one week to less than 48 hours. Designed and implemented communication and escalation processes and procedures for all roles and responsibilities, and improved processes for the defect tracking tool (WITS). Performed training programs on lifecycle processes. Worked closely with Italian and US developers to better manage changes in the product. Introduced change management concepts to division. Consulted with all levels of management in order to facilitate changes based on requirements. Created disaster recovery processes for department that was used in several test scenarios.

Managed 7-person team responsible for nightly product builds and infrastructure of the dedicated build machines. Enhanced processes and procedures that allowed multiple development sites and platforms to work more efficiently. Managed development of internal web site that displayed detailed build results, dynamic system configuration, and access to source and binary repositories. Training Manager / Project and Program Manager

Primary responsibilities focused on training consultants in delivering services and solutions through consulting in Change Management, Configuration Management, Defect Tracking, Build and Release, Project Management, Order Management, Disaster Recovery, and Help Desk technologies. Client Companies were from a variety of areas: Software, Telco, Networking, Banking, Insurance, etc. As the Training Manager, I created and delivered of an extensive 5-day course in complete lifecycle methodology and in Pretzel’s 5-step process for successful engagements. As the sole course architect, I worked closely with the company founders to ensure complete coverage of processes for each phase of a project. As a Project / Program Manager, tasks included managing projects and programs by managing / implementing processes, tools, and infrastructure changes as needed. Additional tasks involved creation and tracking of detailed schedules, analysis of requirements and issues, and providing technical resources, such as script writing or documentation. Each engagement involved training client personnel, and ensuring on-going training for Pretzel consultants. Team sizes ranged from 2 to 12 people. One of my major PM projects was at OnCommand Video, where I evaluated their manual, error prone build and release system and implemented a fully automated, reliable global process. Reduced release time from several days to a couple of hours. Another long-term effort with Compaq was to assist managing implementation of CMM best practices.

Global Release Manager

Created and managed all the teams responsible for production releases of Adobe’s U.S. and Localized software. This included designing the processes and procedures for building the software, and the organization and implementation of multiple projects dealing with Change Management issues and automation efforts. Much effort was spent designing and leading training programs designed to have consistent, accurate processes and procedures. Also chaired Review Boards, and acted as a liaison between Development, QA, and Manufacturing. Managed growth of department and training of personnel that had a dramatic positive effect on the efficiency of the product life cycle. Managed multiple concurrent projects related to optimizing processes, enhancing procedures, and documenting methodologies. Streamlined many processes that cut time to releasing software from weeks to days. One of my responsibilities was ensuring timely collection, identification and integration of product components and collateral materials for release to Operations.
