Resume:

Ali Bostani

EDUCATION

**** – present: PhD in Electrical Engineering, McGill University, Montreal, Canada

• Research area: Computational Electromagnetics

****-****: M.Sc in Electrical Engineering, INRS_TELECOM, University of Quebec, Montreal, Canada

• Research area: Telecommunications, RF Engineering

2000-2005: B.Sc in Electrical Engineering, SHAHID BEHESHTI UNIVERSITY (National University of Iran), Tehran, Iran

• Research area: Microelectronics, Control Systems

WORK EXPERIENCE

2008-present: Research Assistant to Prof. Webb in CAD lab, McGill University, Montreal Canada

• Developed a finite element (FE) code to characterize the RF passive components specifically analysis the evanescent mode of periodic structures for the first time.

• Significantly reduced the computational cost of solving eigenproblems related to electromagnetic bandgap structures (EBG) analysis.

• Applied Model Order Reduction (MOR) in FE analysis of passband and stopband characteristics of periodic structures. This resulted in the computational complexity reduction for more than 10 times.

2007-2008: Research Assistant to Prof. Denidni in EBG Antennas Group, INRS-EMT, Montreal Canada

• Designed and fabricated a reconfigurable EBG antenna with the ability of beam scanning in azimuth plane.

• Designed and analyzed an ultra wideband antenna with band rejection in wireless LAN frequencies to avoid interference.

2005-2007: PLC Programmer, Technical Director of BAOELECTRIC Corp., Iran

• Cofounded the company and designed and implemented several control units with PLC.

• Worked with Siemens series and Schneider series of PLCs and smart relays using Step 7 and Zelio.

• Designed and implemented the control system of cooling tower of Iran national blood refinery.

2004- 2005: Supervisor of ultrasonics in NDTPARTODEZH Corp., Iran

• Supervised several ultrasonic inspections for oil pipelines in south of IRAN.
