General Manager

I was in charge of a start up operation to build cargo/ custom trailers for a wholesale market. Goal was to reach 1M per month in shipped finished product or 12M annual sales. I Opened operation after 2 management teams failed to do an acceptable job in getting the operation on line. Despite no industry experience and few experienced workers the operation was profitable in the first quarter. To date sales are approaching 200K per week operating on 2 small production lines with 45 people on staff. We build more than 7 different product lines of custom cargo trailers and ship to as many as 9 states and Canada.

I started as a production mgr with Cavco in 1988 and was there for just over 17 years. In this time I held every plant management position from Production Mgr. to General Mgr. to the Vice President of Operations, in my control were 4 separate facilities based in AZ, NM and Texas. I designed all 4 of Cavco plant operation facilities as well as the systems in which we operated the plants under, we able to accomplished sales annually of more than 120M in these operations. My responsibilities were for more than 1000 employees and their managers. Monthly individual budget meetings with management qrtly financial goals for each facility were met and tracked. Annual and a fiscal 5 year plan were constantly maintained to ensure accurate goals and progress were being met and tracked. Worked closely with the VP of Sales and Marketing to design marketable and cost effective products and implement the product through the engineering process down to the plant level to build. Provided the plants with accurate engineered shop drawings from the engineering department to build and be able to estimate/cost accurately the build costs of these products. I also worked closely with the CFO to ensure my plants remained profitable and financially fit over the year and tracked closely to our 5 year fiscal goals. Inventories were controlled less than 21 days on hand material and my reporting systems were accurate and exact to his standards. Our efforts lead to a sale to Centex Homes in 2000 of Cavco Homes and the sale of our commercial division,NEC Leasing to GE Capital.
