Researched, formulated and developed waterborne basecoat for exterior use on flexible automotive plastics. Obtained North American OEM approvals of waterborne exterior basecoat for fascia from General Motors, Chrysler and Hyundai. Obtained European OEM approvals of waterborne basecoat for exterior and interior automotive plastics from BMW, OPEL, Chrysler, Audi, Volkswagen and Vauxhall. Part of sales team that was responsible for driving sales in Europe with numerous automotive manufacturers. Participated in sales meetings as well as all technical meetings involving the sales of water-based automotive paints. Ultimately concluding with the growth of our business from 0 euros to an annual sales of 6-8 million euros in three countries in three years time. Communicated daily with Rohm and Haas’ automotive coatings plant in Strullendorf, Germany and Lansing, IL; produced weekly and monthly written reports on status. Provided all technical service in Europe when needed to assist customers with on-line application and any issues relating to applying our systems. Formulated and developed 2K waterborne clearcoat for use with waterborne basecoat on OEM BMW interior parts. Total yearly sales on BMW’s 100, 300, 500 series and Mini-cooper around 1-2 million euros per year. Worked closely with resin chemists to specifically design specialized urethanes and acrylics to replace generic resins in waterborne formulations. Developed improvements for solventborne one-component and two-component flexible basecoats and clearcoats, lowering the overall raw material cost allowing the final product to be more economically feasible for customers. Involved in team that developed and obtained approval for durable, solventborne, two-component truck bed coating for Ford, General Motors and Chrysler in North America. Overall yearly sales of this product around $5 million. Assisted in ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and QS16949 certifications for plant.
