Doctoral level medical laboratory scientist, researcher and educator with experience in immunology, immunohematology, medical microbiology, infection control, and biochemistry seek position on biotech industry.
The DA degree is recognized as equivalent to the PhD by US Department of Education and National Science Foundation. Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in Florida (TN 43985) and approved by CBIC for the Certification in Infection Control (CIC) examination.
Relevant Experience:
- Planned and implemented a testing program to assess the concentration and dispersion of airborne simulants (Bacillus globigii) of biological agents of warfare and terror. Testing program included both soil and air sampling concentration at White Sands Missile Range as sub-contractor to Mevatec, Inc. The results of these studies confirmed dispersion of the simulant and was included in a report to the Trilateral Commission. This project included application and modification of culture methods and molecular biology techniques.
- Developed and adapted methods for assessing the aerosolization of soil bacteria and their potentials in causing human disease. The long term assessment of airborne Clostridium botulinum in the El Paso region required extensive sampling of both air and soil to identify potential and actual sources of organisms that produce human infections.
- Consultant/Expert technical witness for the United States Department of Justice. Developed and conducted studies of water and waterborne microbial pathogens in support of an environmental enforcement action versus Rio Bravo Farms. The results were reported in an affidavit submitted to 5th Federal District court.
- Planned and conducted testing and risk assessment for microbial contamination of ground and surface irrigation waters in colonias on the US-Mexico border. This project was conducted as a subcontractor for Environmental Resources Management Inc. (ERM–SW) as part of the Resaca Non-Point Source Pollution Project of the Texas Clean Rivers Program, Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission. Data were published in TNRCC reports in August 1998.
- Conducted study of chlorine dioxide in treatment and disinfection of solid and liquid medical wastes. The laboratory studies required development of simulation methods to assess disinfection properties.
