Responsible for coordinating, administering and implementing comprehensive health and safety training programs for five-hundred plus Environmental Services and Food and Nutrition employees for the Jewish Hospital and St Mary’s Healthcare systems a 1900 bed system serving the metro area Louisville, Kentucky. Drive strategic safety risk management throughout the organization to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements for safety in the workplace. Provide guidance and consultation to supervisors, staff and management personnel. Responds to reported accidents to evaluate current best practices and recommend changes where necessary.

JEWISH HOSPITAL AND ST. MARY’S HEALTH CARE – Louisville, Kentucky

Director of Environmental Services 2001 to 2010

Direct report to the Chief Exective Officer for effective management of Environmental Services Department in a 650 bed hospital with total square footage of 1,184,535. Responsible for a staff of one-hundred and ninety two Environmental Services and Central Transport employees, while planning and setting departmental goals. Provide guidance and consultation to supervisors, staff and management personnel. Responsible for controlling costs, maintaining safety, meeting all regulatory agency requirements, developing policies and procedures for quality and infection control. Responsible for maintaining the departments written standards.

UNITED STATES ARMY – Louisville, Kentucky

Second Lieutenant – Medical Core (Honorable Discharge) 2000 to 2004

Responsible for logistics in preparing soldiers for deployment

Accomplishments:

• Improved the patient satisfaction scores in the Environmental Services Department from the second percentile to the forty-fifth percentile. The process continues to improve for 2009.

• Winner of the Studer Pillar Award for Excellence, 2009.

• Trained all management teams within the Environmental Services Department for ADEIT. Resulting in increased team moral and increases in patient satisfaction scores (2006).

HILLCREST HOSPITAL – Mayfield, Ohio

Director of Environmental Services/Communications 1998 to 2001

Maintained and operated the Environmental Services, Communications, Mail Room, Volunteer Program, Grounds and Central Transport Departments in a 425 bed hospital with total square footage of 1.2 million. Provided an environment that supported quality patient care that reflected an appropriate image of the Hospital. Managed a staff of one-hundred and thirty five employees encouraging effective, efficient, professional and customer oriented services. Assisted in developing and implementing the corporate goals and objectives of Meridia Health Systems.

Accomplishments:

• Implemented the Bed Tracking System, resulting in efficient turnaround of discharges time by 25% (1999).

• Implemented Patient Tracking System, resulting in reduction of discharge time to twenty-eight minutes. This process increased the efficiency of customer satisfaction in all departments.

• Restructured and cross-trained team members within the Environmental and Transport Departments. Resulting in increased productivity and savings of $275,000 (1998).

Maintained the highest quality of environmental services in a two hospitals consisting of 460 beds and combined square footage of 900,000. Overseeing a staff of eighty employees while ensuring a safe work environment. Implented and monitored all cleaning programs for the entire medical center and associated buildings.
