WORK HISTORY

08/2010-Current Medical Technologist

Responsible for running all of the reproductive endocrinology, chemistry and immunology labs on an Immulite 1000. Perform all of the daily, weekly and monthly maintenance. Perform specimen processing. Too include manual dilutions. I also perform semen analysis: I do sperm counts make and stain viability slides and morphology slides. I am proficient in the Krueger Strict Morphology. I perform sperm washes for IUI and IVF procedures. I receive and ship out cryopreserved semen and embryos from sperm banks and long term cryo storage facilities. Also responsible for ordering all supplies for the andrology lab.

08/2009-12/2009 Externship

Completed 4 rotations at the Portland, OR VA Medical Center. Consisted of Chemistry, Transfusion services, Hematology, and Microbiology. In chemistry, trained on the Cobas 6000 chemistry and immunology analyzer. Performed ABG on the rapid analyzer. Ran specimens on the ECI instrument to detect Ag and Abs for Hepatitis B and C. Performed HGB A1c on the Tosho instrument. On the Architect checked for homocystine levels for patients suffering from congestive heart failure and anti rejection drugs for transplant patients. Transfusion services performed ABO type/ screens and cross matches for transfusing blood products. The PVAMC does a number of liver transplants and I helped set up blood products for these cases. Performed Ab identification panels and Ag panels on patients. Hematology, trained on the Coulter LH 780. Performed differentials on slides, WBC, RBC, and platelet estimates. Processed body fluids for microscopic examination and performed the microscopic examination. Performed coagulation tests on the STA compact coagulation instrument. Assisted with bone marrow biopsies and then prepared and viewed the slides. Performed urinalysis tests on the Yellow Iris instrument and performed microscopic analysis on the urine sediment. Microbiology, plated organisms and performed serological testing procedures.

Clinical Laboratory Science program at OHSU. I have taken and completed: transfusion medicine lecture and lab, microbiology lecture and lab, chemistry lecture and lab, and hematology lecture and lab. Molecular lecture and lab at Dr. Zahra Kashi’s Lab.

09/2006-08/2009 Phlebotomist; Maxim Health Care

I was contracted to work at Intel in their health and wellness clinic. I took blood pressures and drew fasting labs for the employees. I was also contracted on a mobile healthcare unit. I went to different facilities and performed blood draws for employees.

I processed body fluids for cytologist and pathologist to view. This included cell blocks, thin preps, air dried slides and alcohol slides. I also processed pap smears and HPVs. Input patient information into the computer. Billing and filing.
