WORK EXPERIENCE
TOYS R US – CORPORATE FINANCE (January 2004 – May 2009)
Assistant Manager - Financial Reporting and Analysis – 1 Geoffrey Way, Wayne, NJ.
• Assistant Manager for Financial Reporting and Analysis, responsible for team building, mentoring, and development of a 5 person team and all vendor analysis for over 3,000 vendors involving annual sales aggregating more than $5 billion/year and their associated defective returns at roughly $105 million/year.
• Completely transformed the department from a data entry intensive group to an analytical based and reporting oriented production area; created 3 new reports, pivot table reports and analysis on Categorized Defectives, monthly Paybacks and Credits, Fixed Vendor Analysis, and all other department analysis.
• Responsible for all analysis and review of vendor claims, at over $25 million annually, initial settlement proposals of those claims, and all associated credits/debits posted to their accounts, $10 million annually.
• Assisted in the development of a new database for tracking all vendor credit/debit postings, as well as creating reporting around said postings; trained staff and other local departments upon system rollout.
• Created Exception Reports and Analysis to include monthly variance analysis and recommendations to senior management for re-negotiating vendor rates and determining departmental financial exposure.
• Second in command responsible for all due diligence, logistical, financial and operational review of 3rd party outsourcing project, to include facility inspections, maintenance of day to day operations, and improved efficiency enhancements; primary liaison between outsourcing company and Toys R Us.
LEHMAN BROTHERS (October 1999 – December 2003)
Finance Associate – Technology Expense Reporting and Analysis (101 Hudson Street, Jersey City, NJ).
• Technology Reporting Analyst and supervisor of a three person team responsible for all relations with, and payables to, over 300 vendors at $300 million annually. Achieved $2 million in annual savings.
• Primary Associate responsible for monthly reporting and analysis of Firm’s $150 million expenses in Hardware and Software, to include accruals, capitalization analysis, and monthly variance analysis.
• Created internal enhancements, to include detailed capitalization analysis of the Firm’s software expenses averaging $10 million monthly, and improved analysis around forecasting and accruals.
• Primary analyst tracking and reporting on International Business Process Redesign re-engineering project, which included revising forecasts, and tracking fiscal savings averaging $80 million annually.
US ARMY (June 1997 - June 1999)
Platoon Leader, Assistant Adjutant – Brigade Colonel's Staff (Schofield Barracks, Hawaii).
• Organized, managed, and chartered deployment of a 3,800 personnel combat team from Hawaii to Louisiana, for Combat Preparedness Mission. Achieved 100% successful operation.
• Coordinated local and state media coverage of military operations, including newspaper articles and television broadcasts, and daily briefings to media during combat training missions.
• Leader, mentor, counselor, and supervisor for overall combat readiness of 34 soldier team, all assigned weapons and equipment totaling $500,000 and deployable anywhere worldwide within 18 hours.
