INCONEN TEMPORARY SERVICES, Culver City (3/04 - 9/08)

Mechanical Design Engineer (contract hire at The Boeing Company, C-17 Support Equipment Group, Long Beach)

- Generated 14 new designs and improved 51 existing designs of GSE and STE per contract/military specifications and human factors requirements. Designed items included small tooling up to large structures, for installation/removal, repair, alignment, and/or testing of the C-17 aircraft and components.

- Released engineering detail and assembly drawings per C-17 CMS processes, Mil-Std-100, and ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T drafting practices.

- Repeatedly selected by project managers to their project teams due to my ability to rapidly produce error-free drawings for projects with significantly shortened schedules.

- Communicated with USAF Logistics personnel, aircraft structures and system design groups, aircraft production and maintenance mechanics, and suppliers to ensure that designed items met requirements.

- Wrote test procedures for GSE to ensure that fabricated/delivered items met form, fit, and function (FFF) and qualification test requirements.

- Wrote retrofit procedures for GSE to be modified.

- Performed peer check reviews of drawing packages per established department document quality control process prior to drawing release.

- Wrote Publication Change Requests (PCR) against USAF C-17 Tech Orders.

- Designed shop aids for C-17 aircraft production to improve the accuracy and efficiency of bracket installations in the fwd and aft fuselages.

In addition to performing the same tasks as listed for the more recent Inconen contract position:

- Generated 75 new or improved designs of GSE, STE, and aircraft tooling.

- Instrumental member of GSE Crisis Management Team in providing immediate response to the USAF with effective designs.

- Reduced/eliminated hazardous materials and ozone depleting substances from production and maintenance tasks as part of C-17 Pollution prevention IPT.

- Provided design support to the Low Cost Troop Door Project Team. Released drawings per newly created 3D Model Based Definition Process. (Team awarded Boeing Silver Eagle Award.)

- Determined GSE requirements for Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot levels of maintenance.

- Provided design support for CCPs, ECPs, and PTPs requiring design changes to GSE.

- Wrote proposals for GSE upgrade projects, coordinating with IPT from conceptual design, through fabrication, first article testing, production, and field support, meeting schedule and cost targets. Incorporated LEAN principles into processes.
