Contract Programmer, Thomas and Betts Corporation, Memphis, TN. 06/99 – 10/01

I created stored procedures and SQL iterations from an Oracle database for data reporting. This data is output to Microsoft Access, protected Excel worksheets and Crystal Reports. The data was also made available through an HTML interface and client/server operations to manufacturers, logistics, inventory managers and sales personnel.

Contract Programmer, Hotel Systems Support, Hilton (formally Promus) Hotel Corporation, Memphis, TN 03/97 - 09/98

I moved postion to create a support section for the completed (System 21) product into beta for conversion and/or cut over and evaluation. Subsequently, all new facility openings were installed on the system through various version changes and then collectively bringing all hotels to same version. Currently over 400 hotels on the new system at the time I left.

• Organized and trained the System 21 technical support work force at the data center on the intricacies of the new hardware platform and operating system.

• Provided assistance to development in resolving customer issues, acting as liaison between the two groups and participated in debug activities affecting the necessary changes to resolve them.

• Participated in and organized the collective output of both the technical and customer support groups by establishing a support methodology pertinent to the proprietary aspect of the system.

Participated in the development of a replacement state of the art hotel management system (System 21) used by Promus portfolio hotels. This system architecture used Microsoft product lines SQL Server, Visual Basic, SMS on an NT client/server operating system platform.

• Participated in and organized the collective output from a group of programmers principally assigned the task of creating system report output using Crystal Report Writer and stored procedure data acquisition from the SQL server data source.

• Participated in and helped organize and control the data conversion activities from the current P Pascal system to the SQL databases to accommodate a retrieval of data from the old HMS system and eliminate manual data entry cutover.

• Direct support of BETA deployment and hotel operations to resolve customer issues arising from software issues.

Special Project Assignments - Postal Inspection Service

Computer Systems Analyst/Programmer, United States Postal Inspection Service, Potomac, MD 05/94 - 12/95

Designed, authored and installed a LAN client/server application with FoxPro 2.6 for Windows for the headquarters division of the Postal Inspection Service. This system allowed them to completely automate the processing of job applications for the position of Postal Inspector. This is very involved requiring the tracking of process stages such as medical examinations, credit history, driving history, criminal background, fingerprint and photo identification, previous employment and testing.

Facilities Specialist, Maintenance Support, Management Sectional Center, Memphis, TN 01/90 - 06/90

Managed alteration and maintenance of postal owned and contracted real estate used for mail processing and distribution in a three state area. This included new construction, alteration/ repair and decommissioning.

• Designed and authored an application using Dbase 3Plus and Clipper runtime to manage real estate construction, alteration contracts, project status, set priorities in conjunction with process and/or delivery needs and reduced document costs for future planning.

• Detailed repair and alteration specifications negotiated and supervised the management of contracts for same to insure compliance.

• Supervised building alteration contract work for accommodating handicap customer access to Postal Service facilities.

Supervisor, Maintenance, MPE-ET, Management Sectional Center, Memphis, TN 07/89 - 01/90

Implemented an improved methodology organizing a higher level of competent maintenance activity which resulted in significant reductions in process and operation failures. This substantially affected all of the automated process and distribution equipment within the confines of a national automation maintenance program.

Designed and authored a 32 module convention, meeting and training system for the Federally Employed National Training Program using Dbase 3Plus. This system tracked application processing, training class assignment and attendance, statistical reporting related to attendee background information and cost accounting. In addition, the system managed aspects pertinent to the individuals such as hotel accommodation, special dietary requirement, handicap access, child care availability and recreational activity provided by the local municipality.

Maintenance Engineering Analyst, Maintenance Technical Support Center, Norman, OK 09/87 - 04/88

Participated in logistical planning to support fixed mechanization, automation and process control system standardization for the entire Postal Service distribution network affecting literally hundreds of millions of dollars in capital assets. Most mini-computer systems used for process and automation control, information management and office management offered little toward inter-connectivity.

• Defined structured architecture for future system acquisition in selection, procurement, operation and maintenance for fixed mechanization distribution and control, automation distribution and control, process control systems, building systems control, PLC standardization, PC acquisition and usage.

• Improve logistical support for parts held in national inventory and reduce duplicity in supply, quickly eliminating excesses through sales while residual values still held.

Managed maintenance work force technical personnel in the preventive and corrective maintenance of mail processing equipment. Processes such as sorting systems and conveyors, machine control systems utilizing mini-computer, PLC, A/D computer interface and cabling; building structures, hoists, elevators and HVAC equipment and controls.

• Designed and supervised the construction of multiple transport conveyor systems with programmable logic control providing increased material handling capability for very large parcels (NMO).

• Supervised retrofit of conveyor sub-systems electromechanical controls to programmable logic control resulting in reduced relay and parts count, reduced energy consumption, increased reliability, versatility of operation and added safety.

• Administered the retrofit and installation of the previously designed prototype and beta HVAC control system in preparation for nationwide postal facility implementation. During this phase of the project; installation, debug and system testing, I supervised the activities of the technicians, provided logistical and technical support for this and other facilities and maintained documentation to alter or update design. This system was eventually installed in over 355 Postal facilities.
