Information Assurance Specialist
Provide support to AFNORTH Communications Division’s efforts to develop and sustain missions systems to defend the US from threats by integrating a plan for Information assurance. Assist in training users annually on the security rules of behavior or acceptable use policy for each information system for which they have access. This requirement is above and beyond the initial/refresher Information Protection training. Evaluate the Nonappropriated fund (NAF) to ensure users operate, maintain, and dispose of information systems according to the guidance within this instruction and the security rules of behavior or acceptable use policy for the information system. Assist users to report vulnerabilities and incidents on information systems according to Air Force Instruction (AFI) 33-138, Enterprise Network Operations Notification and Tracking, and if applicable, Air Force Instruction (AFI) 31-401, Information Security Program Management, in coordination with their organization security manager. Evaluate operations to ensure information systems are operated within the constraints of the accreditation for the information system. Provide guidance to ensure information systems are cleared or sanitized according to Air Force System Security Instruction (AFSSI) 5020, Remanence Security (will become AFSSI 8580, Remanence Security). Assist with the Emission Security (EMSEC) program and prepare documentation required approvals. The preparation of Emission Security (EMSEC) documentation will result in a Power Point document showing the location of classified and unclassified information systems in areas where they are used. In addition required memorandums will be created and updated to obtain Air Force Certified Tempest Technical Authority approval for operation. Participate in base inspections to verify documentation accurately reflects implementation. Collect and create Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DICAP) documentation to support system accreditation. The documentation will include but is not limited to MOU’s, equipment list, software list, Unit support information, acceptable use policies, test results, topologies, facilities information, System Security Plans (SSP’s), and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s). Existing documentation will be entered into Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (EMASS) along with the required explanation of how the information supports the controls expected results. Draft policy at the direction of the Information Assurance Manager (IAM). Policies will be updated to reflect changes directed by Cyber Command, Department of Defense Air Force and local orders and instructions for implementation throughout the AFNORTH Area of Responsibility.

Lead Computer Technician
Serves as Alternate Information Management Officer (AIMO) and Alternate Information Assurance Security Officer (AIASO) for United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) Command Group and Classroom Integration and Modernization (CIM), responsible for providing technical assistance for users computer systems, network, and printing. Provides support to microcomputer users by analyzing and isolating system and/or software/hardware failures. Troubleshoots a variety of utility, communication, word processing, database, spreadsheet, and network software. Reviews and tests new releases from vendors to insure validity and benefits to system users. Makes recommendations and establishes procedures to improve performance of hardware and software. Provides working knowledge of potential system problem areas to higher graded specialists who are involved in developing systems. Makes recommendations to improve existing operations, and the interfacing of new or updated systems. Relays information concerning the interaction between the user devices and local/remote processors. Provides procedural information, guides, and tips to users to improve and enhance usage of microcomputers. Assists in providing technical instruction and guidance concerning user interface techniques, and insures required information is disseminated to user community. Performs administration duties and monitors system operations by setting up and maintaining account restrictions and user rights for systems. Assisted network and computer users in resolving various software and hardware issues communicated via telephone, e-mail, and the implemented help-desk system. Perform daily and periodic computer, printer, and peripheral maintenance as required. Install computers, printers, faxes, and any other equipment used for day to day use.
