CLASS PROJECTS
Embedded System
Snake: the video game
• A video game with VGA output and keyboard controller, hardware synthesis on Xilinx FPGA using Xilinx ISE and EDK, worked in a team of two as the HDL programmer.
• Peripherals written in VHDL: video controller, embedded RAM controller, keyboard scanner
Digital Signal Processing Laboratory
Voice Recorder with hiss cancellation
• A voice recorder program with input low-pass filter written in C and ASM using TMS320C6x DSK.
• The program supports real-time playback and FFT fast convolution.
Real-Time OS
Kernel level IP filtering
• Modified TCP/IP part of the Linux kernel for specific IP rejections running on an ARM evaluation board with Ethernet interfaces.
• The debug is done by kernel message and protocol analyzer.
Adaptive Digital Signal Processing
Non-linear Line Echo Cancellation using speech voice
• The performance of Line Echo Cancellation algorithms using LMS, RLS, Interior-point RLS, Bilinear LMS and Sigmoid-transformed gradient descent are compared for best ERLE.
• The project is coded in Matlab with acoustic echo and line echo simulation.
Image Processing and Applications
Sparse Image Deblurring from learned dictionary
• Deblurring of noisy images using sparse basis pursuit from K-SVD learned dictionary.
• Provides both denoising and deblurring.
• The project is coded in Matlab using KSVD Toolbox.
Pattern Recognition
Singing voice segmentation in pop music
• Classification of singing segments and no-singing segments using Gaussian mixture model with Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient feature and linear predictive coding feature.
• The project is coded in Matlab using Netlab Neural Network Toolbox.
Optimization Theory
Node-distributed sensor network localization through successive relaxation
• Iteratively relaxing the original optimization problem into different convex optimization form, eg. Semi-definite Programming (SDP) and Second-order cone programming (SOCP), according to node connectivity subgraphs.
• Node-distributed algorithm is robust to failure with power saving feature.
• The project is coded in Matlab using SeDuMi 1.21.
