TATA Power Delhi Distribution Limited. (Formerly known as North Delhi Power Ltd.)

A joint Venture of TATA Power and Govt. of NCT of Delhi July 2008 to till now

Role: Executive in Protection and Technical support department.

Responsibilities:

o Troubleshooting, testing and protection commissioning in EHV Grid stations

o Relay testing/ configuration/ commissioning along with integration with SCADA system.

o Investigation & analysis of power system disturbances using E-Tap software

o Protection coordination for the Sub-transmission system &

o Protection setting calculations for all types of protections used

EXPERTISE

Remote Relay Parameterization – Smart Grid Initiative

Details: The project is intended to get a centralized control over all the Protection relays (from different vendors like Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Honeywell, etc) in about 60 Grid stations under NDPL, the sole purpose is to be able to download FDR’s and to change protection functions from a centralized station.

Skills used: Communication protocols like IEC-61850, IEC-60870-104, IEC-60870-103, SPA, LON, ModBus and Parameterization software’s like DIGSI, PCM, REYDISP, SFT, etc

Power Evacuation / Islanding / Load shedding scheme design and commission for 108 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant

Details: Developed Power evacuation along with Islanding scheme for combined cycle power plant in Rithala, Delhi

Skills used: E-Tap, GIS mapping and site surveys, logic designing in relays, commissioning of under-frequency load shedding along with line differential relays with C37.94 over existing SDH network.

Testing and Commissioning of 1MW Solar Power Plant

Details: Finalization of specs and commissioning of 1 MW Solar Power Plant in Delhi along with Transformer Protection Panel design and testing of associated equipments using Various testing kits like Omicron, CT analyzers, etc.

Testing and Commissioning of 4 nos. 66 KV Siemens Grid Stations

Details: Testing of Bay equipments as well as switchgear including Relays in two nos. of 66 KV and a 33KV Grid station in Bhalswa, Rithala and Kirti Nagar, Delhi

Skills used: Various testing kits like Omicron, Dobble HV tan delta, CT analyzers, DIGSI Relay software, IEC Browsers, etc

Residual Life analysis of Lightning Arrestors and HV Switchgear

Winner of TATA INNOVISTA NRF: Process Innovation in Core operations

Details: An exhaustive study of residual life of LA’s at 66 and 33 KV grid stations taking inputs from the third harmonic content of leakage current along with switchgear based on relay data.

Skills used: Analytical skills, exhaustive data mining and site surveys

Commissioning of Line differential relays

Details: Commissioning of line differential relays in the network of 60 nos. of grid stations using direct fiber communication for C37.94 as well as using various protection communication schemes and integration on SDH network.

Skills used: PCM, DIGSI, and usage of proficiency in latest technologies such as IEC-61850, IEC-60870-104, IEC-60870-103
