Freelancing at this medical communications company, searched medical journals for data upon which to base new claims and to improve upon existing claims for Pletal (cilostazol, a blood platelet aggregation inhibitor, vasodilator). Researched how Pletal compares to drugs within and outside of the same therapeutic class. Helped rewrite sales aid. Examined research in Vigamox’s (moxifloxacin, an antibacterial ophthalmic solution) new drug application for data upon which to base new claims. Wrote new claims. Researched how to better distinguish Levoxyl (systemic thyroid hormone) from its competitors. Helped edit a sales aid and referenced claims.

Closerlook, Chicago 2002-3

Researched and wrote a 12-page sales aid entitled, Optimizing Treatment of the Severely Mentally Ill for this strategic marketing company. Focusing on Zyprexa (olanzapine), one of the newer “atypical” antipsychotics, this booklet laid out the social and financial costs of treating and not treating the severely mentally ill, particularly those with schizophrenia. Involved synthesizing information from at least 40 different scholarly sources.
