Inteco is a regional economic development organization promoting the commercialization of new technologies and innovative products. The region is comprised of eight municipalities in the Central Eastern region of the island. Areas of responsibility include managing the WIRED Program for Talent Development in the region, developing a regional permits processing office (ORPP), managing the PR Energy Center and managing two regional business incubators.

General Manager

Responsible for the supervision of Finance, Materials, Engineering, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Facilities and various Production Business Units. Integrated two management groups, expanded building, transferred seventeen product families from UK, Atlanta and Germany in three years and implemented PeopleSoft. Maximum headcount of integrated site was aprox. 900 employees; the organizational structure was revamped into cellular high performance manufacturing teams. A cultural transformation of the organization as well as the focus on goals and accountability was an integral part of the transformation.

Achievements:

 After merger, integrated Wesley Jessen and CibaVision operations into one cohesive management team. Developed Business units.

 Transferred products from Atlanta (complete facility), UK and Germany in 15 months including building expansion and validation.

 Developed team structure throughout organization with improved results in overall productivity in 20% and scrap reduction of 15%.

 Developed plant strategy to focus on key initiatives and goals in different levels of the organization and integrating these in the performance management system.

 Customer service was improved by reducing backorders and getting on time delivery from 90% to 99.2%

Pall Biomedical, Inc. Pall Corp. Fajardo, Puerto Rico 1987 - 2000

Responsibilities included P & L, Finance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Materials, Human Resources, Operations and Facilities. Oversee manufacturing of six product families with $100 million dollars sales to distributors and intercompany shipments to North America, Asia, Europe, Central and South America.

 Initiated a Quality Improvement process in PR that was eventually adopted by Pall Corp. in all North America sites and sustained for over nine years.

 Implemented a Performance Management System linking strategic plant objectives to Business Unit and individual objectives.

 Reduced plant overhead rate, scrap rate, downtime and freight while improving on time delivery to customers. The management team developed a team based work environment that created a high performance environment and was recognized by winning three PR Excellence Awards from Puerto Rico Manufacturing Association .

 Achievements

 Improved ratio of expense to manufacturing sales by 40% over a four year period.

 Increased mfg sales by 75% while decreasing headcount by 20%, reducing inventory by $ 3 million and reducing scrap by 25%.

 Transferred 47 products upon closing of New York facility in 14 months.

Responsible for Engineering, Test Engineering, Production, Packaging and Facilities. Physical plant construction, doubled floor space and a complete facility was transferred from Boston.
