M. Tech. Project (Jul 10 – Jul 11)

Title: Scalable video streaming using Intelligent Edge device Guide: Prof. G. Saraph, IIT Bombay

In SVC only one video file is stored to extract different quality layers for different resolution requirements instead of having different files of same video for different resolutions.

Streaming of large .mp4 files consumes more bandwidth. Hence we stream raw .264 files, which consume less space than .mp4 and allows us to extract different quality levels easily.

PIM-SM which is a multi-cast routing protocol is modified in order to incorporate quality information. Wi-Fi Network is used for streaming on Mobile.

Steaming has been tested on PCs, Nokia N-series, Openmoko and Android Mobiles

– Programming: j2me, shell scripts, Socket programming using C.

– Protocol used: PIM-SM for Multi cast routing, RTSP for receiving streamed video file. RTP for real time communication

– Software used: Quaggas PIM-SM routing, JSVM for extracting video layer, Darwin Streaming Server for streaming a video file and ffmpeg for converting .264 files into .mp4.

BE Project (Jul 06 – May 07)

Title; Micro controller based feedback control system Guide: Prof. Deepa Nair, K.J.S.I.E. & IT 8051 micro-controller based feedback control system to control liquid level, temperature and motor speed. A GUI using visual basic was created to monitor these parameters.

Course Projects

Title: Electronic voting machine Instructor: Prof. P.C. Pandey

Electronic voting machine was implemented using ATMEGA32 micro controller, a S.D. Card and a serial interface to the PC. A Graphic LCD was used for display and a 4X4 matrix keyboard was used for user inputs.
