EMERSON PROCESS MANAGEMENT 9/03-7/04 (contractor) 7/04-9/06: Direct
DCS (Delta V) & instrumentation design for Shell-Norco refinery, complete system upgrade with hot cut overs. Designed new AC/DC and DC/DC power systems, voltage sensing relays and modified schematics for new devices in redesign of UPS system. Reviewed existing instrument loops drawings & PID’s for creation of demolition drawings of loops and connection diagrams to field junction boxes. Completed new loops and reports with Intools. Documented new instruments loops with both conventional I/O and field-bus communications. Designed multiple control panels for new interface devices, power supplies, isolation and relays. Created schematics as well as wiring drawings for physical connections in panels. Documented BOMs for all new enclosures and devices to be installed. Laid out locations for new control / power supply / relay/ isolation enclosures in various locations in multiple units. On site duties supporting turn arounds and cut overs of new DCS & instrument systems, on the fly redesign of interface systems to account for issues unknown before shutdowns using both INtools and AutoCad.

Merck-Medco RX of Nevada. Updated all electrical drawings to a current, as built
stage for all systems and equipment related to automated pharmacy. Standardized and combined multiple vendor drawings to a Merck-Medco border / size and created index of all electrical drawings on engineering network. Established standards for electrical drawings and control panel layouts for outside vendors to enhance current Merck-Medco corporate standards. Developed scope for projects & supervised work by electrical contractors. Provided supervision and documentation to convert all work to fixed price bids on for electrical projects resulting in lower costs and quicker pay for contractors. Created multiple equipment layout drawings for existing equipment facilitating installation of new equipment. Designed conduit/junction box system for each of 6 pre-fab modules for Monsanto plant to be exported to Brazil. Laid out route for control loops for all instruments specified and all electrical trays and conduits for motor, instruments and lighting. Also supplied connection diagrams for all panels as well as cable schedules for all devices. Designed system using solar power to operate a southern Utah water district remote water tank level control system using radio telemetry to send the signal between multiple tanks to multiple PLC controllers. Design selected PLC that would operate on DC allowing much lower power use.

Systems designer, project manager, field service, R&D, customer technical support, creation of operational manuals and project documentation. Supervised equipment & controls system start-ups for power plants, paper mills, cement plants, trash to energy projects, quarries & grain processing facilities. Duties have involved extensive travel to customer sites at locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, China and Indonesia, for technical meetings, supervising start-ups of both control & mechanical systems, trouble-shooting of the same for existing installations.

Started as sorter then promoted to management after one year. Had sole responsibility for facility and staff of 20 or more on evening shift. Duties: training current and new personnel, employee evaluations, supervising operations and maintaining personnel records.
