Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operation (ADCO)

HSE Senior Development and Training Coordinator, 2008 - 2011

Providing HSE training and development for Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operation (ADCO), the main oil producer in the United Arab Emirates and member of ADNOC group owned by Abu Dhabi Government and International Oil Companies.

• Organized more than 300 HSE training courses in diverse fields and terminals for 4500 participants.

• Designed statistics spread sheets in coordination with field’s team leader in order to identify HSE training needs. According to training statistics developed 3 HSE training matrices for different workplaces, employees’ positions and job needs. All courses were delivered by different approved HSE contractors and company trainers in the English language which is the main language in the company. The quality and number of training courses had dramatically reduced number of incidents in the company as well as their direct and indirect cost.

• Developed H2S awareness training courses for 1200 labourers taking into consideration the different educational backgrounds and language barriers of the workers. Courses where taught in Arabic, Urdu, and English for the prevention of fatal accidents caused by H2S poisoning gas.

• Established Train the Trainers program, which benefits the company by reducing training costs and refreshing the HSE knowledge of the company’s trainers.

• In order to qualify young national generation in different trades of Oil industry, ADCO have established Training Canter in the largest Oil field. According to my rich background in HSE and as Master Trainer I was appointed as HSE Senior Instructor. Developed and rewrote of 12 HSE training courses: Introduction to Safety and Health, Hazards Identification, Surface Hazards, Manual Materials Handling, H2S awareness, H2S advanced, Gas Testing, Confined Space Safety, Permit to Work (PTW), Mechanical Hazards, Electrical Hazards, Fire Fighting, and PPE. Successfully executed on job training.

• Used ergonomics background to make proper adjustments for many workplaces and stations in the company.

• My contribution to HSE training and development was noticed and highly appreciated by managers, employees, employers and company contractors.

The Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi Men’s College

Mechanical Engineering and HSE Teacher

1995 - 2008

The Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi Men’s College is the largest higher educational institution in the United Arab Emirates established in cooperation with Canadian Colleges.

• Initiated and contributed in establishment of Mechanical Engineering Department and workshop.

• Instructed several hundreds of first year engineering students in Basic Mechanical Workshops and Technical Drafting.

• Successfully delivered 13 different engineering courses: Static and Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Welding, Rotating Machines, AutoCAD, Basic Skills Mechanical, Basic Skills Construction, Basic Skills Electrical, Physics, Mathematics, Career Orientation, Computer Literacy for 600 Diploma and Higher Diploma students.

• Taught Business Math for 80 Business Department students.

• Contributed in courses outline writing and delivered special courses for 180 students in Work Readiness program. After finishing this program the graduates were employed in Governmental Administration Departments.

• Initiated HSE diploma program at the Higher Colleges of Technology in 2002, which was first of its kind in the Middle East. Designed curriculum and course outlines writing and delivered most of HSE courses in the 3 year diploma program for the first 16 students of Civil Defence.

• Supervised, wrote and delivered training modules for 48 students in 1 year Security Guard program.

• Delivered additional Math and Physics courses for students that needed additional support to upgrade their knowledge benefiting 60 students in successfully continuing their regular studies in Engineering Diploma programs.

• Supervised, instructed and followed up the work experience program of college students.

• Successfully contributing in the graduation of more than 2000 students in various disciplines.

For my accomplishments and efforts in success of the Higher Colleges of Technology I have received many educational rewards and acknowledgements at Yearly Sports Events, Festival of Thinkers and Education without Borders.

Occupational Health and Safety Institute in Amman, Jordan

Initially employed as Safety Engineer and in 1992 promoted as Director

• Successfully managed and supervised 12 Safety Officers, Occupational Hygienists and Environmentalists.

• Facilitated many of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) seminars and courses for hundreds of participants from private companies, industries, Engineering Society and government departments.

• Coordinated of HSE international projects with CIDA – Canada. Organised HSE staff development program in cooperation with Canadian Lake Land College – Alberta.

• Successfully organized and supervised ‘Safety and Economy’ Seminar.

• Designed, supervised and coordinated the study of "Anthropometric Data of Jordanian Individuals" (18 months study). This study was performed for the first time in Jordan according to my recommendation. This study was supported by the Industrial Developing Bank, The Higher Council of Science & Technology and Vocational Training Corporation. The study was highly beneficial for private and governmental sectors.

• Served as one of the International Labour Organization Ergonomics Consultant. HSE consultant in Pakistan from 6/12/92 to 6/1/93 at I.L.O. as an expert in project (PAK /88/009) Karachi, Pakistan.

• Developed and wrote 12 HSE courses using OSHA, British Standard, Canadian and Australian HSE regulations, codes and legislations as resources. Hazards Identification and Control; Cause of Accidents; Occupational Health; Safety Regulations; Accidents Investigations; Safety Inspection; Fire Protection and Prevention; Ergonomics and Workplace Design; Mechanical Hazards; Construction Hazards; Welding Hazards; Personal Protective Equipment, and Environmental Hazards and Control.

• Inspected many different types of industries in Jordan and abroad.

• Investigated many accidents with Ministry of Labour and Social Security Corporation in Jordan.

• Designed ergonomic workplaces for many industries and Central Bank of Jordan and abroad.

• Participated as a member of various Health, Safety and Environment Committees.

• Researched different safety aspects such as "The Cost of Injuries" in Jordan.
