Sept.2008 –Sept.2012
--Modeling and characterization of composite materials.
Developed analytical models with finite difference methods and finite element model (Abaqus) to study bending behavior of composite.
Validated analytical models by applying non-destructive imaging techniques to measure strain under bending.
Built and maintained a suite of LabVIEW Virtual instruments that control and acquire data for mechanical testing.
Designed and conducted dynamic mechanical tests to study viscoelastic behavior of composites
Developed constitutive models for regression modeling of non-linear behavior of composites.
Designed and fabricated composite with novel structure from inspiration of modeling results.
-- Finite element modeling for dynamic mechanical behavior of dental implant materials.
Performed impact analysis for dental implants materials using FEM with MSC Marc.
Analyzed how microcracks affect stress distribution within dental implants under dynamic loading.
-- Metallurgical testing and Failure analysis
Collaborated with an industrial corporation (MetroLaser Inc.) to create a laser assisted fatigue damage detection technology.
1) Designed and conducted metal fatigue tests based on ASTM testing standards.
2) Assisted with installation of portable Laser instr00uments for in-situ detection of fatigue cracks.
3) Examined metal fatigue failure mechanism with replica techniques and electron microscopy.
--Engineering & Research Leadership
