Attn: Hiring Manager / HR

I have worked in the construction industry for over 29 years. During these years, I worked my way up through the ranks, starting as a carpenter helper in the fall of 1982 to my current level as Project Manager / Superintendent / Quality Control Manager – Quality Assurance Manager. With current market conditions as they are, we have all had to go far beyond the traditional job descriptions of just being the Superintendent or Project Manager. During this transition, I have proven again and again my ability at taking on multiple positions on jobsites or multiple jobsites that would typically require many individuals to meet the project’s requirements. I’m one of two individuals in the history of Langley Air Force Base’s Corps of Engineers office, located in Hampton, Virginia, that has been approved to act as Project Superintendent and Quality Control Manager of the same project valued at over 14 million. Historically, this is a contradiction of duties and never approved. My reputation with the Management and Inspectors at the Corps of Engineers office, located on Front Street in Norfolk Virginia, as well as, the base Corps office at Langley AFB, is what facilitated this and something I’m tremendously proud of. It came from day in and day out 110 % commitment to the project, ability to lead by example using my experience, work ethic and integrity. Through this much broader approach to running each project, I have saved well over a million dollars in general conditions to my employer over a combined project duration span of roughly 7 years.

I have a thorough working knowledge of all 16 C.S.I Divisions and have extensive experience with projects ranging from ground up shell building, flex space, industrial and commercial structures, as well as, military and specialized use building for the Navy, Air Force and U.S. Special Forces at most all military installations throughout the Hampton Roads and northern North Carolina areas. Many of the specific geographical locations of these projects on some bases require an extremely extensive background check due to high security concerns. So along with my assigned duties such as Superintendent, I have also been the POC for these projects as the project security liaison between the governmental body buildings, the project and the General Contractor that I worked for.

During my career I have roughly 60% spent in government contracting with a concentration towards design build with LEEDS Certified projects starting in the mid nineties depending on the bidding climate and volume.

The other 40 % was devoted to private sector work such as: ground up building of hotels, apartment buildings and industrial flex space.

In closing, I have demonstrated throughout my career, my integrity and my total commitment to providing a superior project to the owner and/or user and remaining profitable to the company ensuring profit margins are always met or exceeded. I have proven abilities within firm fixed priced, MAC and JOC funded projects with a specific concentration in LEED certified and Green projects.

Thank you for your time and should you need any additional information, please call me on my cell phone at 704-***-****. I am available to travel and relocate within the United States and abroad.

I look forward to hearing from you to discuss joining your team.

Sincerely,

David G. Cavenas
