On-site geologist/geosteer
Duties as on-site geologist include Geo-steering through curve and lateral drilling portions of natural gas Marcellus shale wells by monitoring a culmination of MWD data (Gamma data being the key indicator) recorded while drilling in order to keep the wellbore within specified target zones.
• Extensive experience with standard wellsite geology procedures
o Examining rock cuttings through microscope and fluoroscope with a variety of chemical cuts (Isopropyl Alcohol, Alizarin Red, Trichloroethylene),
o Actively monitor gas output of the well using digital MSI gas chromatographs.
o Closely monitor gamma ray readings in order to ascertain accurate formation dip in order to keep wellbore within specified target zone.
o Construct and update detailed geologic well logs throughout operations.
• Sunburst geologists are required to be on-site 24/7 during curve/lateral drilling operations,
o Must be able to troubleshoot, identify and solve/repair any problems with the geological equipment quickly and efficiently without interrupting drilling operations.
• Extensive experience preparing geologic reports, field logs and well evaluations.
o ~10 page well evaluation constructed upon completion of each well drilled
• Trained and experienced in the use of Wellsight Systems mud logging programs as well as SES geo-steering software.
• Approximately 2.5 years experience as wellsite geologist in Marcellus Shale with limited experience in Bakken Shale and 3-forks lateral drilling of the Williston basin (North Dakota).
