Qualifications

In my previous job, I interfaced the gamming machine with a PC to download and or test the game firmware and paytables (Progressive and Standalone) for various platforms and created test reports documenting my results. Initially we, the engineering technicians, would run a file compare between the previous game version or whatever software I was testing and the current version. Then we would base our test plan on the difference report generated by the file compare and add it to our normal base tests. But then, later the lead engineers created the test plans. I sometimes have to interface with different engineers and technicians. I worked with stepper, vision and AVP. I have also worked with Game King, S2000 and PE+. I have burned eproms, downloaded themes thru the network and used jump drives for testing the software, depending on the platform. I have connected computers to hubs and routers when setting up or re-connecting my workstation. I have used many test tools, some manual, some automated, for testing the firmware and performing base pay and bonus pay paytable tests. I use the paytable test tools to run the pre-created scripts, which usually have to be modified or scripts I create from scratch. Some of these tools have to communicate thru the comm. Ports on the PC to the gamming machine. I created some tools using Visual Basic, C# and using the visual basic built into word and excel. I have an understanding of the structure of C and C++ and have done some programming with C++. My strongest language is Basic but I learned other computer languages in High School and on my own. I have even programmed in hex and binary. And I know how to convert hex to binary and visa-versa. I did study Geometry and algebra in high school. I still use algebra quite often when writing computer programs and macros. I understand a little bit about calculus. I know it’s used with op amps for figuring integration and differentiation. I have also done a lot with studying electronics, computers and math on my own. I have built circuits with differentiators and integrators. I have built voltage comparing circuits, current sensing and voltage to current converting circuits. I have also built timer circuits, digital counter circuits, wave generators, power supplies and many other circuits. Most of the electronic circuits were built during the 1 1/2 years I was in Product Test at IGT. While I was a Line Tech, I would trouble shoot machines that would fail in the finalizing area of the line. I would replace boards and send the bad boards to the Bench Tech area. I did do some component level trouble shooting in the Bench Tech area for a couple of weeks while I was a Line Tech. The only formal electronics training is form the Nevada Gamming School. I attended a 6 month course to repair slot machine and video games back in 1986. I am now attending Morrison College for a Computer Science degree. I am going for an AS. However, I may continue schooling to get my BS.

Work History

2000 to 2008, Engineering Technician II (Product Assurance), IGT, Test Software using manual and automated tools. Build harnesses and create tools when necessary.

1998 to 2000, Tech II (Casino Services), IGT, Install software and machines at Casinos at various locations. Repair if necessary.

1996 to 1998, Tech I (Line Tech), IGT, Trouble shoot and repair machines in the finalizing area of the line when they do not work.

1993 to 1996, Tech 1 (Product Test), IGT, Test hardware. Try to re-create failures that occur out in the field. Test new hardware devices. Built many electronic circuits for testing while I was in this department (see above for details). Interfaced the PC with gamming machine via the comm port and by using a circuit an engineer had built and a program I had made, we were able to monitor the coin optic board pulses.

Education

2010 to present, Going for AS or BS, Morrison College

1986, Award of Completion, Nevada Gamming School

1979 to 1982, Diploma, Hug High School

Technical Skills

Strong working knowledge of Win98, XP, Word and Excel. Some knowledge of access. Home Network (Wired and Wireless). Strong working knowledge of electronics, computers and mathematics. Good trouble shooting skills. Some C++,C# and visual basic but, strong computer programming background.
