Resume:

Lindsay Dare Shoop

**** ******* ***, *** ***

Surfside, FL 33154

Olympic Gold Medalist Rower and aspiring novelist merge her innate qualities as an

Olympic Champion with her creative interests to challenge, inspire, and educate others.

The ongoing challenge of the Olympian is to continue thriving and passionately pursuing every endeavor outside Olympic Competition. She must live each day with the same degree of focus, intent, passion, and direction which carried her to that esteemed peak. She must not live in the past, but must appreciate the past. She must not recount stories of old glory for the sake of the story, but rather to re-energize and inspire future triumph. She must remain positive, while realistic, using all she has practiced to further develop.

In living with the same passion which carried my teammates and me across the finish line to Olympic Gold, I continue to expect nothing less than my best in all I do each and every day. I continue to live in daily pursuit of excellence. For this very reason, I am currently writing a book concerning this challenge each one of us faces.

Furthermore, through my education and certifications, years of motivational speaking, work with various non-profits, health and fitness consulting, coaching, and multi-faceted background in Human Resources, I have drafted numerous articles, essays, and projects, collaborated in the creation of visual materials, written website verbiage, and compiled research for a variety of articles and events, many of which have been self-edited. I have coordinated directly with both individuals and larger entities across all ages and demographics, yielding a diverse perspective concerning my community.

The eight and a half years I spent as an elite rower, five of which were for the US National/Olympic Team, taught me to live in such a way to be proud of the person I become each day. I have learned that constantly adapting to change, taking constructive feedback, being consistent and dependable, and striving for new knowledge are just a few of the keys to success in all areas of life. My capacity to goal set, imagine, and be optimistic beyond limitation have ever expanded as well.

Moreover, my history as an athlete has instilled a specialized knowledge base. I am unique in my ability to develop and motivate groups and individuals, identify strengths and weaknesses, communicate, temper conflict, train others, coordinate exercises and training drills, connect with diverse populations, and above all else be immensely patient and open minded.

Most recently, I followed my heart and athleticism back to the water. Becoming an Open Water Rescuer was a dream of mine since my childhood summers spent in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I consider this current position hands-on research. I learn and constantly adapt by daily study of environmental patterns and human behavior.

In further accordance with my move to Ocean Rescue, I became an EMT, US Coast Guard Boat Captain (OUPV), Boat-Mate, Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard, and CPR, AED, and First Aid certified in less than two year’s time. My desire for self-improvement and my quest for knowledge are indeed endless.

Thus far I have followed my dreams and employed my innate skills, yet I still seek more. For this reason, I pursue greater challenges which not only follow my dreams and elicit my character, but also utilize my creative passion and interests.

Communication has always been one of my most well known strengths. I take pride in exercising new ways to express my thoughts both aloud and in writing. I constantly seek new experiences. I constantly seek growth.

With you, I wish to further utilize and develop my skills of communication.

I hope that you will come to consider my strengths your assets.

Should you consider the key to communication brevity, I am able to send writing samples which speak for themselves.

Thank you kindly for your consideration.

All the Best,

Lindsay Dare Shoop
