EDUCATION
MASTER OF SCIENCE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING (GPA 3.53) DECEMBER 2011
Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK
• Designed tray and packed column for C6/C8 Splitter and conducted comparative analysis for economic design
• Created Air Pollution Control system for 1010T/day capacity Tulsa waste incinerator
• Evaluated effectiveness of HFC mixture as an alternative to CFC using Aspen plus simulation and Scaled-Variable-Reduced-Coordinate (SVRC) framework to develop a more effective and less environmentally harmful refrigerant
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING (GPA 3.37) JUNE 2007
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Dhaka, Bangladesh
• Led team in designing a 1920 ton/day capacity coal liquefaction plant.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
INVISTA S.A.R.L. ORANGE, TEXAS
PROCESS ENGINEER (CONTRACT) APRIL 2012-DECEMBER 2012
Sizing and selecting relief devices utilizing API and ASME standards.
P&I development and use.
Material and energy balance interpretation and development.
GLOBAL HEAVY CHEMICALS LTD. DHAKA, BANGLADESH A $ 150 MM sister company of the Opsonin Group, and the largest employer of engineers in Bangladesh. The first and largest Chlor-Alkali facility in Bangladesh, producing caustic soda, liquid chlorine, hydrochloric acid and other chlorine derivatives for local and international demand.
PROCESS ENGINEER 2007–2009
Managed daily operations of Chlor-Alkali manufacturing plant. Closely monitored DCS for brine purification process; inspected and coordinated maintenance work; and repaired equipment. Spearheaded and delegated the tasks of 20 technicians. Worked collaboratively with other groups and top managers to optimize plant operations. Reason for leaving: Pursuit of advanced education in US, for greater industrial, technical and interpersonal challenge.
Reduced manufacturing costs by 5% through efficient use of raw materials and utilities, reduction of labor hours, and waste minimization.
Reduced plant trips (unanticipated shutdowns) by 25% through statistical analysis of equipment failure data, identifying root causes and implementing preventive maintenance measures for vital equipment.
Increased first-time-right product quality from 88 % to 93% through hands-on, day-to-day assistance to production.
Reduced injuries by 8% in two years, by increasing safety measures and reducing frequency of chlorine gas leakages
Increased productivity of brine purification process by incorporating plant wide quality improvements and increasing on-stream factor from 94% to 96%.
Teamed up with project design engineers and operation engineers to develop a $600K CO2 absorber for exhaust gases. Project was implemented in 2009, and is reportedly working well, at the designed 90% efficiency.
Gained extensive experience in ABB DCS operation, implementing process changes, new monitoring modes, control schemes and loop parameters. Coached new operators on means of monitoring key DCS variables.
Maintained process PFD’s and P & ID’s for two process units and all associated OSBL.
OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY ADVANCED MATERIAL SCIENCE LABORATORY
INSTRUCTOR/TEACHING ASSISTANT/EDUCATIONAL MENTOR AUGUST 2009–DECEMBER 2011
Directed multiple laboratory activities to meet students’ need and curriculum requirements. Trained and mentored students in basic and advanced material science experimental testing methods and operating equipment. Compiled and organized students’ records and routinely reported to course instructor for necessary improvement. Educated students in advanced thermodynamics. Planned and conducted activities for a balanced program of instruction that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and explore in a classroom setting. Instilled a strong commitment in meeting educational objectives established for each student.
Built and cultivated positive relationships with students to empower their student achievement and learning
Commended for improving students’ academic performance
Gained comprehensive knowledge on basic and advanced material testing method, such as tensile test, hardness test, alloying, cold work, annealing and recrystallization, corrosion and failure analysis of metal and metal parts
Tracked experimental progress and completion for data analysis within the classroom setting
Assessed student performance and learning outcomes by directing laboratory sessions and analyzing report sheets
CERTIFICATION
Sig Sigma Green Belt Certificate: Provider-Business Excellence Solutions: Nov 2010
PUBLICATION
Rhinehart RR, Gebreyohannes S, Sridhar UM, Patrachari A, Rahaman MS. “A power-law approach to orifice flow rate calibration.” ISA Transactions 2011; 50(2):329-341.
