Middlestream Experience

Mar 1980-Jan 2003: Petróleos de Venezuela Oíl Company (PDVSA),

Oil Refining Manager. Management of a 165 employee team.

• Operations and capital budgeting for all processes, operations and maintenance activities for a

125,000 BBLs / day Plant.

• General coordination of a bitumen treatment (dehydration and desalting) distillation unit.

• Coordination of batching transportation process through a 36” 240 mile pipeline which pumps

various products from the production area to the marine terminal; developed special quality

control plans and operational procedures to complete the project.

• Coordination of loading oil tankers at the deep water terminal in the Caribbean Sea, which

required developing a non-spill plan to avoid environmental impact.

Process and /Operations Superintendent.

• Coordinated improvements of a petroleum refining plant, composed of three units: dehydration, desalting, heating and stripping column, as well as the utilities (gas, air and water).

• Maximized the stripping column capacity in order to reduce refining costs and maximized profits to the owner: reduced downtime during maintenance.

• Coordinated introduction of new equipment.

• Coordinated improvements of distillation tower, boilers, electrostatic separator, heat-exchangers, dynamic and static mixers to ensure proper operation of the plant.

• Coordinated upgrades to the plant on time to supply the client’s requirements.

Processing Plant Manager

• Gas dehydration using (Triethylene glycol) TEG solution.

• Water treatment for a steam generator stripping column.

• Managing sewage to dispose oily water from the dehydration process by injecting down holes to prevent contamination of fresh water in the upper sands.

• Inspection of all operations and participation with commissioning and start-up team, to enforce

HSE/OSHA standards for environmental and human protection.
