Project: CAL System Testing

CAL (Centralized Accounting Logic) is a system that takes data feeds from several upstream risk-management systems, and transforms the data into records in the FDD, or Financial detail database. CAL is one of the systems in the GGL (Global General Ledger). The simple view of CAL is that it operates in two stages. The first stage, called normalization, is described in a series of functional specifications, categorized by upstream system and geographical region. The second stage, called APG posting, produces additional FDD records for input feeds categorized as BI feeds.

Changes to this layer are made on a Quarterly release basis by raising the ITG’s. System Testing team makes sure that the processing is done correctly as per the functional specifications and inspects the data stored in different stage tables (temporary) which will finally be stored as journal entries in the main database tables. As the testing involves verifying thousands of records, to reduce the manual errors and efforts, the team has come up with an in-house automation tool built using Excel Automation (VBA). CAL has been implemented using a proprietary ETL product from Informatica.

Role and Responsibilities: Test Analyst

• Understanding Requirements & Technical specifications, active participation in complete test life cycle - design, review and execution of test cases.

• Possess good Knowledge of SDLC & STLC and hands on experience in complete Bug Life Cycle.

• Performed manual testing using Informatica (black-box). Ensuring that content and structure of all testing documents/artifacts is documented and maintained.

• Performing ad-hoc and Regression testing of system components under aggressive release schedules

• Used UNIX to migrate the Input files to GGL stage Data base.

• Effectively used TOAD to access back end Data Base (FDD) for test results comparison.

• Comparing and Analyzing the Expected with Actual results in DB.

• Used JIRA to log defects. Being responsible for following through and making sure defects are reported and escalated appropriately

Description:

Cluster computing is a technique of connecting computers by a network in order to take advantage of parallel processing capabilities. The Project deals with the performance characteristics of a cluster. The main objective is to implement parallel applications over a cluster. The parallel application is divided into parts and submitted to different nodes of the cluster and the partial results are combined to get the final output. The result depicts less execution time and high availability.

It uses the concepts of secure remote login and Message Passing Interface (MPI).
