Technical Process Manager

 Actively involved in 5S activities throughout the pressroom and warehouse.

 Teach and deliver the GATF training program to the Shift Supervisors, Operators and 2nd Operators. This has lead to increased lithograph knowledge and trouble shooting skills.

 Evaluate training needs and deliver or arrange technical training.

 Developed a new hire curriculum for safety in the pressroom and developed LOTO procedures for all equipment. This has improved safety awareness as evident by our decrease in accident frequency rate over the past several years.

 Created a passport style-training book for the Press Assistant position. This book guides the Press Assistant through the skills needed to become a successful part of a press crew. In the 16 months the Passport book has been effect, Vertis has only had a 6% turnover of Press Assistants that have completed the program.

 Developed SOP’s for quality and skid weight verification. These scale procedures ensure correct copy counts on skids, helping to eliminate under and overages of products produced.

 Trained and helped implement the new Vertis SOP’s and made copies available to all personnel.

 Reduced waste by 25% by working with fountain solution suppliers to find a fountain solution that is better suited for the products that we produce.

 Reduced the cost of printing blankets per 1000 impressions by investigating new and different types of blankets.

 Added to the net throughput by the suggestion of a 3 out stream separator for use on 2 page standard and 4 page tab products.

Trainer

 Developed and delivered a training course for the Roll Tenders position. Received funding from the State of North Carolina’s New and Expanding Industry department to deliver this training.

 Developed external and internal make ready procedures that assist in the improvement of production speeds.

Shift Supervisor

 Duties included press operation, folder operation and management of 50 employees in the pressroom and shipping department. Worked with customers on color OK’s on several different accounts. Implemented department policies as well as making sure all company and industry safety procedures were being followed. Several of my shift Operators set Vertis production records.

Press Operator

 Responsible for press crew, their safety, press and folder operation and preventive maintenance of press equipment. Worked directly with customers for press checks and my crew set several production records.

 Press crew received an award from FMI for quality reproduction.
