By utilizing Shainin Red X/Green Y methodologies and enhancing electro-mechanical products, I boosted performance, quality and ensured product designs were in conformance with company, customer and industry standards. I tackle and resolve the toughest and most complex design challenges.
I am an award-winning and published developer of patented technology including Clemson Camshaft, and automotive fuel and emissions improvement technology. My key strengths in global environments include:
Providing critical engineering input to product designs to meet market needs
Leading project teams to achieve reliability and product performance goals
Increasing yields, performance and manufacturing capacity
Exceeding worldwide client expectations in time, cost, and quality
I am described as a knowledgeable, creative, results-oriented leader who is committed to providing fully-functional products for diverse industries. My credentials include a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, and I have authored numerous White Papers and quality, investigative and engineering publications.
SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Patented an innovative camshaft design to improve efficiencies. Identified opportunity to make cars more efficient. Co-designed camshaft with moveable camlobes, improving fuel economy and emissions. Patented design which became known as Clemson Camshaft. Pioneers in the field of variable valve timing.
Ensured novel technology made it to market. Lucas client, BMW, gasoline injector component was in jeopardy of being cancelled if quality issues weren’t resolved. Analyzed injector yield, identifying/resolving excess variation in dynamic flow, static flow and hardened components. Patented technology led to yield improvements in 3 months.
Redesigned fuel pump to improve performance. Shainin auto client desired new technology to make the noisy rollervane fuel pumps quiet. Analyzed the quietest and loudest client fuel pumps, swapping components to determine root cause of problem. Reduced pump variation to become a quiet assembly.
Developed problem-solving/certification program. Shainin needed a management system when solving issues for clients. Created and initiated “Top 5” leadership development program with certification levels, focusing on top executives in Fortune 500/100 firms.
Utilized engineering expertise to avert liability suit. Requested to serve as expert witness for Shainin manufacturing client. Analyzed problem with differential component. Identified excessive fluid leakage as the quality problem. Determined that the fault laid with the supplier, placing liability on appropriate party.
