Re:

Dear Sir/ Madam,

My name is Leonardo Albert Reyes. I am a veteran of the United States Navy. I have recently earned my Associates Degree in Business Administration and looking forward to finish my Bachelors in Criminal Justice concentration. I am proud to say that I have experienced many exciting job positions in the military. I first started as a trainee in variety of jobs. Then, as I progress through periods of training, hard work, motivation, and dedication I move up to be an F-18 A/C Plane Captain Handler or Line Service Technician. The military has a system where they assign an Individual for a specific job. That job would be a temporary assigned duty (T.A.D). The majority of sailors must go through it. It is almost like a requirement or obligation, and a responsibility that must be taken seriously with honor, pride, and commitment. For that reason I was obligated to be part of the patrol team as a base security, barracks base (building) rover, and duty patrol officer on Naval Base. I also voluntarily to work in Naval Exchange (USN tax free market) as loss prevention agent or undercover security working behind close circuit television, apprehending and preventing public theft in the persons property. About one year before my contract expired in the service, I was a storekeeper (SK) or aviation supply for the support of our squadron. My responsibility is performing a single specialized task often change daily with the needs of the specific job and the government wants and needs. In addition to my responsibility is to protect the government asset, merchandise, property, information, services, cash and people who are intended to be used in a manner that contributes to sales, profits, and customer satisfaction. With an honorable discharge getting out of the service was not an easy decision to do. Upon my discharge, I started working as a merchandiser in Coca-Cola Company. My biggest responsibility as a merchandiser in the company is being on time at 4:00 am. Working in Coca-Cola was a different experience. I had to be customer service oriented while routing and stocking Coca Cola products into many store locations. It was a great experience. Later on I also worked as loss prevention agent in the company called Lucky Brand under a security service company called Securitas. I am currently working in Rich Rey Express Inc. There, I worked as a security, to protect property and persons that I am assigned to. I make rounds constantly in the warehouse, writing incidents or any actions on the logbook. I also make sure that none of the workers in the warehouse steal and walk away with items from the company. I am always on the look out for any potential danger for the protection of the company and the safety of the employees. I give 100% commitment, accuracy and honesty in my job. I am also part time Trainee Private Investigator under Steve Wynn Investigations. I am still also a part time loss prevention assistant in a tourist boxes delivery company called Rich Rey Inc as assistant manager and loss prevention. I am a very hard working person coming from a military background, I will die for a job that I am committed. I love working with people, I am a team player, I love to listen and learn, understand, and absorb the backbone of the job. I can submit or fax my DD214 discharge release from the military and my Loss Prevention/ Security Certificate. I am available anytime. Thank you

Merchandiser

Merchandisers are responsible for deciding which goods to stock in which shops and how they should be displayed. In large retail companies like Coca-Cola, merchandisers are likely to be dealing with one range of products. In a smaller retail company they may be responsible for both the buying and merchandising.

Merchandisers predict trends and fashions and decide which products are most likely to appeal to customers. They analyze sales information, work out sales targets and plan how to increase profits. They visit suppliers or manufacturers to select goods. This is likely to involve working closely with retail buyers. They negotiate a price, order the goods, agree a delivery date, complete all the necessary paperwork, and keep in touch with suppliers to make sure that the goods arrive on time.

Merchandisers work closely with visual display staff and department managers to decide how goods should be displayed to best attract customers’ attention. This might involve planning and setting up sales promotions and advertising campaigns. In some organizations this is a separate role carried out by a visual merchandiser.

The most exciting part for me is the traveling to different stores to discuss how well the stock is selling, and make decisions about whether to withdraw, increase or move the stock to another store. Computers play an important part in the work – they are used to handle sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets and graphs.

Base Security:

A shore facility, my mission is to provide safety and order to the Navy community. I might find myself providing security for an Admiral’s visit. I also conduct a preliminary investigation of a crime scene on base. Providing physical security along with law enforcement and anti-terrorism measures are everyday endeavors for the Sailors in this occupational specialty.

For me the duty assignments for Sailors in this field involve working in foreign environments, with a large number of shipboard and overseas assignments.

For me the law enforcement and security field, you’ll not only work to protect the Navy’s personnel and property, but you will have the opportunity to learn self-discipline and professionalism.

New security policemen will normally assume duties including guarding gates at facilities around the world, flight-line security, base security patrol or fence line security.

Masters-at-Arms uphold law and order aboard ships, shore stations and deploy overseas with expeditionary forces and squadrons performing Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) duties. The basic duty of an MA is to enforce rules and regulations, maintain good order and discipline, and protect life and property. Some other duties include conducting criminal investigations, personal protective services, take part in correctional and rehabilitative programs, Military Working Dog (MWD) handlers, small arms instruction, lethal and non-lethal weapons training, and organize and train sailors assigned to Shore Patrol police duty. Their equivalents in the civilian world are detectives and policemen. These factors, along with a great opportunity for travel, make my decision to leave the Navy a difficult one. Fortunately, the incredible training and daily hands-on experience I receive could transfer me directly to any law enforcement agency.

Private Investigator Trainee :

My duty as a trainee private detective and investigator depend on the needs of my supervisor’s clients. In cases that involve fraudulent workers’ compensation claims, sometimes for example, I may carry out long-term covert observation of a person suspected of fraud. If I observe him or her performing an activity that contradicts injuries stated in a worker’s compensation claim, I would take video or still photographs to document the activity and report it to the supervisor.

Plane Captain:

From June 23, 1999- July 23, 2003

Supervisor Chief Joselito Borja

NAS Lemoore, Ca 93245

Plane Captains Duties:

As a Plane Captain in the United States Navy I invested long days, hard work and every ounce of my knowledge and experience into ensuring multimillion dollar aircraft and our pilots make it safely back to the deck every day. I often represent the sole source of expertise on daily and turnaround inspections.

Trust is the key. The pilots have to trust that everything’s been inspected properly,”

I spend 12 to 15 hours per day with my assigned aircraft. In addition to the constant inspections, I check fluid levels, prepare the cockpit for flight and ensure there is no foreign object debris that could damage the "bird." Prior to handing the aircraft over to the pilot, as a Plane captain I act as the final set of eyes.

In general, sailors spend a minimum of 90 days learning the ins-and-outs before they can receive the prestigious title of plane captain, and have their names and hometowns stenciled or marked on the belly of an aircraft. I am proud to say that I have my name marked on of the F-18 A/C.
