Responsibilities: Manage product engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers and production supervisors to improve day to-day operations & to put together policy deployment and other strategic planning initiatives. Lead development of new products, capital equipment purchase, and implementation of Lean Manufacturing for the business unit.

Major Accomplishments

Ø Developed a very effective manufacturing and design engineering team. From 1998 our team was able to increase our market share in the turf and garden market from 40% to the current 80%. During this period we also increased gross margins from a negative 5% to the current +26%, as we reduced selling prices in a very competitive consumer products market.

Ø Introduction of 2 new patented products for turf and garden markets. Result:$10M new business.

Ø Introduced ‘Wash Down’ product for food industry and ‘Failsafe’ clutch/brake for C-Face motors.

Ø Worked directly with major OEMS such as John Deere, Toro, Eaton and MTD to qualify several new applications, valued from $250K to $7M annually.

Ø Improved test capability. Result: Captured two new customers, annul sales $3M.

Ø Lead qualification of low cost country components for current and new products, savings $500K.

Ø Evaluated, justified, purchased and implemented 2 twin spindle, 4 chuck high production CNC lathes with auto load, auto gauging, auto compensation features, and several assembly & test machines.

Ø Directed & implemented $1.25M cost savings in 2001, which included engineering innovation, productivity improvement, material cost reduction and process improvements.

Ø Coordinated $45M Turf & Garden business relocation team. Result: Under budget & on time.
