Manage IT Operations and Datacenter activities in a retail Environment supporting 850+ Retail Stores and Internet sales nationwide. • IBM Global Services - IT Infrastructure Manager - Corona, CA 2009 to 2010

Retained by IBM after an Outsource arrangement, to support the IT needs and requirements for Kaiser Permanente, that is currently a customer of IBM Global Services. Efficiently managed the UNIX Server Infrastructure, which hosted critical applications, for Kaiser Hospitals and other Business Units. The server infrastructure consisted of 3500+ physical and virtual servers, housed in several Data Centers. The scope of responsibility included Server Builds, Maintenance and Monitoring, Storage Allocations as well as the management of a "BUILD/RUN" team of L1 and L2 support, guided by very strict SLA's, on 7x24 support requirements.

Oversaw all Application Support functions, working with both Kaiser and IBM personnel, to support normal activities as well as Application and Database upgrades, system migrations and other major projects.

HIGHLIGHTS

Consistently accomplished goals of maintaining High Availability on our servers and software, as well as maintaining a Zero downtime requirement for the Medical/Hospital and Pharmacy applications

Consistently ran under budget for Hardware maintenance, by upgrading obsolete servers at "end of life" and maintaining supported levels of software, thus eliminating costly extended maintenance contracts.

Consistently accomplished successful SOX and PCI audits by maintaining the Security and Identity Management infrastructure.

Oversaw and maintained Service Delivery relationship with Kaiser Permanente (The Customer), by negotiating Service Level Agreements for all Applications hosted on the UNIX Server Environment.

Administered the Change and Problem Management for UNIX applications. Verified that all IBM commitments were met and that no financial penalties resulted from SLA targets missed, or customer impact due to outages.

• Kaiser Permanente - Manager of IT Infrastructure - Corona, CA 2008 to 2009

Supervised a team of team of Senior System Administrators (Level 2) Support, and Command Center (L1) personnel that provided support for a large farm of UNIX and Windows Servers (4500+) and that house EPIC and other critical medical applications.

The scope of responsibility included build, maintenance and patch/upgrades of the, Storage allocations, as well as being the initial point of contact for all issues (server, application, network, storage, etc), as well as provide technical resources to the Application Development teams during code implementations.

Created and maintained close relationships with internal and external customers, and promoted the coordination of activities in order to perform efficiently. These relationships were very beneficial during the negotiation of SLA's as well as during problem investigation, since the relationships included a level of mutual trust and confidence in each other’s activities.

HIGHLIGHTS

Hired by the IT Director to assist in the planning and migration of servers and personnel to a newly built Data Center, which would eventually host the Business Continuity server infrastructure.

Managed the Server/Storage Infrastructure and IT Operations teams on both Data Centers, maintained and executed Business Continuity plans, and supported the Retail Stores and Product Distribution and Supply Chain activities, including a development team in Costa Rica. Built close working relationships with Business Units in an effort to work efficiently.

Managed a flawless deployment of systems, applications and personnel to the new Data Center with no disruption to business functions or customer impact.
