• Ensured and executed quality installation of fiber optic and CAT-5 cables.
• Ran CAT-5 cables through ceiling drops, in attics covered with fiber glass insulation and across walls and throughout building interiors.
• Ran fiber optic cable utilizing both burial and aerial means, while ensuring that dig permits were properly attained and signed for, and that proper safety precautions were met while installing aerial fiber with the use of bucket trucks.
• Terminated copper wiring with the use of RJ-45 ends, MiniComs, and 110-patch panels.
• Tested copper wiring with the use of tone generators and RJ-45 based wire testers.
• Terminated and stripped fiber optic cable (12 strand/24 strand/144 strand single-mode) with the use of ST and SC connectors with minimal dB loss.
• Tested fiber optic cable with the use of the VFL (Visual Fault Locator) and OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer)
• Spliced and repaired fiber optic cable with the use of a fusion splicer and splice tray with success in the dust of hostile Forward Operating Base Howz-e madad in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
