ALSTOM WIND NA, Amarillo, Texas March 2010 – July 2012

PLANT PROCESS ENGINEERING MANAGER

Manager in charge of leading the complete technology transfer of the 1st Alstom US wind turbine nacelle manufacturing plant. Managed Capex of $5 MM for tooling and equipment. Hired US engineering staff, managed staff in Europe to complete project within the required deadline. Assisted US and EU suppliers in meeting engineering & regulatory requirements. Traveled extensively to Europe to evaluate manufacturing methods and requirements.

• Managed European and US engineering staff to secure documentation, tooling, fixtures, engineering and manufacturing process from Spain to USA while bridging cultural and business barriers.

• Provided Sourcing Dept with key engineering specifications, vendor validation,negotiation and contract terms for International and US based tooling suppliers of proprietary advanced details, protecting company secrets and specifying company ownership of designs and improvements.

• Played key role in defining plant production electrical layout, floor construction specifications, with architectural firm and general contractor on current state of the art $10.5 MM plant.

• Created and managed Primavera project Gantt chart to complete all phases of the start up project on time and on a fixture and tooling budget of $5MM.

• Managed, improved and modified production floor and warehouse layouts using ACAD LT 2011, utilizing lean principles and Kaizen events enlisting the active participation of our production staff.

• Used DMAIC process to solve a variety of serious engineering problems that threatened to add over $100,000 in construction cost and delay the start production.

• Assumed roles of Logistics Manager, EHS Manager, Production & Engineering Manager until Logistics and EHS Manager positions were filled.

GE TRANSPORTATION, Erie, Pennsylvania 2008 - 2010

LEAD SVCP ENGINEERING

Lead SVCP engineer that spearheaded the cementing of Essig Engineering contract with GE Transportation. Pioneer to quickly master all relevant engineering digital systems and transferred the knowledge to all new Essig assets deployed at GE Transportation.

• Led multi-million dollar service productivity projects impacting GE’s locomotive service contracts with BNSF, UP, CP, and all other major diesel locomotive customer.

• Conducted and/or commissioned and reviewed DOE process to validate design changes in diesel electric maintenance parts with manufacturer and GE specialist.

• Led $3.1 MM, 6 month, locomotive damper UX project working directly with manufacturer, using SPC analysis to evaluate UX part performance and manufacturer Cpk, to completion and implementation.

• Leader of $2.1 MM, 3 month, locomotive AC generator stator UX project, creating the process to reduce scrap by 98%.

• Conducted GE Engineering Tollgate sessions to justify and obtain required approvals to complete NPI, Engineering Change process on all SVCP projects I led.

• Developed tooling for compressor contactor, registering the invention in GE invention database.

• Established cordial and beneficial relationship with plant’s unionized personnel through stewards and ultimately earning their cooperation where steward intervention was no longer required to conduct projects.

• Mentored and trained Essig Engineering personnel as well as GE Edison engineers.

ENGINEERING MANAGER
