Resume:

July **, ****

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am writing with great interest in the opportunities I read about while performing searches for companies leading current advances in manufacturing. Despite several years of top performance in chemical manufacturing, I am targeting entry-to mid-level positions due to my hiatus from employment in the engineering field. I desire to return to the industry from a position of strength where my years of manufacturing, project/process engineering and quality assurance experience are assets which will allow me to be productive from day one.

I possess a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree and a Masters of Engineering Management, as well as 8 years of manufacturing experience. While employed by American Cyanamid for 5 years I obtained valuable process engineering experience in batch and continuous operations, project management, and collaborative teamwork. I can offer the following experience to your company:

• 5 years of process engineering, 3 years of quality engineering and quality lab experience

• Engineering plant start-up, including the origination of a quality laboratory and quality systems

• Extensive experience in the development, documentation, and training of standard operating procedures to comply with ISO certification

• Process and project management, including installation and operation of clean room

• Experience working within a unionized facility, a Japanese culture, and developing solid working relationships with raw material suppliers and customers

• Experience in leading and working with cross functional teams

• Development and maintenance of certification and quality documentation systems

• Development of statistical database for quality control using SPC and root cause analysis techniques

• Extreme interest in professional development in process engineering software and quality methods

• Willing to relocate, available immediately

Although I believe my experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering is valuable, I also recognize that I have been removed from the current workforce for an extensive period of time. I chose to put my passion for engineering on hold to support my husband’s military career and demanding deployment schedules. During this time I have been involved with my local community and school system as a volunteer, mentor, and substitute teacher and have numerous colleagues who would speak to my creative thinking, organizational skills, and work ethic. I am now seeking to renew my interests in manufacturing excellence and feel a job in your organization would be a perfect fit for your needs and my experience.

I am confident that my experience will meet or exceed your expectations and I look forward to the opportunity to interview with you to discuss how my background can most effectively support your company’s goals and visions.

Sincerely,

Marcia Travis
