Notable Achievements

Business Development and Benchmarks – Financial and human resource benchmarks were set, which included financial statement integrity, account receivable collections, inventory turnover, cross-training, employee turnover, union activities. Results - Obtained 99% of goals of the controllership. Controller of the year 1990.

Financial Integrity – In a Controller’s role the financial outcomes fall into this position’s responsibilities. Embraced 10 office personnel and key managers to produce the corporate’ forecasted results. Tied in all the key financial indicators such as, cost control, inventory control, account receivables, sales, and excellent customer services to mention a few. Results – Became the authority in house with over 100 associates and also an expert to other controllers in our company.

Accounts Receivables – Organizations’ Total Aging was to be under 3.0% at 90 days and over and Days Outstanding under 40 Days. Accounts Receivable associates had a keen procedure for collections and follow through. Objective as Controller was to assist in calls and collections when needed. Results – 94% of the months met 90 Day and Over %, Days Outstanding and Bad Debt Expense.

Leadership Development – There were multiple corporate culture issues in regards to compliance, laws, motivation and unpopular management styles. Started with the development of the key strategic players, which was unique because the HR Manager’s direct report was the Store Manager. Results – Comment was made by managers upon leaving the organization that my leadership and coaching made the biggest impact on their professional career.

Performance Review - Performance review writing was under developed and undervalued. Wrote a performance review manual, instituted and conducted train programs for all management to learn proper writing techniques most advantageous to their employees. Results – Seminar feedbacks were excellent and writing skills improved dramatically. New skills gave managers the ability to save time. Deliveries were professional and employees felt management cared about their careers and gave direction to the employees.

Employee Relationships – An employee hot-line was available to associates who had employment issues.

Through my tenure of four years not one associate call was made to the hot line. Employees were comfortable coming to me and knowing their issues would be resolved. Results - Employee hot line received zero calls.
