Histotechnician Lakes Region General Hospital Laconia, NH 1996-current

Jessica has been employed as a histotechnologist at Lakes Region General Hospital for fifteen years. She was trained in the field of Histology on the job. Jessica is certified with the American Society of Clinical pathology (ASCP) since 2005. Her job duties include:

• Routine workup of surgical and cytology specimens including embedding, microtomy and staining.

• Perform and troubleshoot special stain techniques

Jessica was employed as a phlebotomist for approximately one year. This position included performing venipuncture on inpatients and outpatients, collecting specimens of various types, sending specimens to reference labs, working independently in the satellite lab, registering patients and accessioning specimens. This position required working with various departments of the hospital and a good bedside manner.

This online degree program taught management skills in the social services field. It was an eye opening experience which required much discipline.

Lakes Region General Hospital

On the job training required learning techniques taught by peers. Freida Carson’s text “Histology A self-Instructional Text” was studied and techniques were developed. The combination of good support from fellow peers and studying hard afforded an understanding for the field of Histotechnology.

Northeast Career Schools, Manchester NH 1994- 1995

Jessica completed a comprehensive Medical Assistant Training Program and a 160 hour externship. Jessica learned several administrative and clinical skills which have served well in the histology lab.

Bay State College, Boston MA 1992-1993

Completed one year of schooling toward Associates Degree in a Medical Assistant Program and completed the following courses: Anatomy & Physiology, Clinical Assisting, Psychology, Medical Terminology, Child Growth & Development.
