The Project AMEX was a maintenance project, deals with providing Business Card services to its customers. There are different subsystems within this AMEX like Autosubs, FINCAP, Credit Authorization System(CAS), Regional Settlement System(RSS), SEMIS to mention a few.

AMEX main entities are card holder and merchant. Card holder is a person who owned the Amex Card and merchant is a person at whose terminal card holder swipes the card. The whole process of collecting data when a card is swiped till settlement provided to merchant and card holder is performed by AMEX. It executes mainly batch jobs. It is a critical system as a small change can result in wrong settlement cash, which may lead to loss of business.
