Accomplishments : Facilitated the transformation of the District’s safety program from a reactive and responsive program to preventive, behavior-based, and proactive program that empowers managers, supervisors, and employees with needed training and guidance to allow personal responsibility and each level, hence enhancing the safety program and significantly decreasing overall incidents and injuries.
I conducted scheduled and non-scheduled inspections of the main Las Vegas wastewater plant as well as other district facilities, to include Desert Breeze (Southwest area plant), Laughlin and Big Bend facilities to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Standards and regulations and guidelines as is applicable for over 325 employees.
Observed work within the plant as well as in the field to ensure the use of proper safety equipment and the adherence to governmental and internal safety procedures and policies.
Made recommendations as needed to managers, supervisors, team leaders, and employees to ensure employee duties performed within the scope of District safety policies.
Analyzed potential hazards to ensure the protection of personnel while doing all duties assigned to them.
Developed policies and programs to ensure the safety and health of all district personnel using both short-term and long-term methodologies.
