Resume:

Dear Recruiter:

I am asking you to consider me for the position of Diesel Mechanic, or any other position . I worked at Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority for 7yrs. as a diesel mechanic and hold a current class “B” C.D.L. with passenger and air brake endorsements with a perfect record while driving a commercial vehicle. I also used to work for Crown Oilfield services in Morgan City LA and a large part of my job was operating a forklift loading Pipes, valves, and many other huge items used offshore in oil production. When I went offshore I was a licensed stationary crane operator and a rigger. I have consistently worked on cars, trucks or buses since high school where I had 2 years of auto. Mechanics. Also while at MARTA the mechanics were required to operate a forklift to pick up large bus engines and transmissions. I also operated a stake body truck obtaining and delivering supplies for mechanics when needed. I am able to operate trucks with both automatic and manual transmissions up to a 5 speed.

I began an interest in automotive mechanics in High School where I took auto. Mechanics for 2 yrs. and have continued to work on vehicles since. While employed at my last job I worked on the church diesel bus and many members vehicles and operated a side business where I bought wrecked or mechanically inoperable vehicles, then repaired and sold them. I also donated my time to work on vehicles for free for the church members that couldn't afford to have their vehicles repaired.

While working for MARTA I successfully completed an intensive two year school in Diesel Mechanics and worked in that capacity for an additional 5 years. During this time I gained valuable experience in all facets of maintaining diesel buses.

During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina I set up and ran a food bank and furniture bank to help victims of the Hurricane. On several occasions we completely furnished houses so people could get their lives back on track. We fed 100's of families for several years.

When you combine these two emphases of my Career, I believe you'll agree that I would make a very good Candidate for your company. I am a person that doesn't mind getting my hands dirty. I love to learn new things and would like to learn your business. An example of my desire to learn is when I finished my basement four years ago. I put in a full bathroom, complete kitchen, 2 bedrooms, living room and laundry room. I read how to do this in a manual and for the most part did this job. I learned how to do the wiring, plumbing and many other things. I did hire some of the jobs out but still helped out to learn. I'll put this same determination toward your company. I currently have all my own tools and have a valid Passport and would love to do this job. I am an excellent driver and would love to have this job as my wife and I were both laid off due to the economy last year and are trying to get back to work. I’d worked for the same company 8yrs and she for 20yrs.

Thank you for your consideration.
