EXPERIENCE

On Site Project Manager: Facilities Development Corporation, Reston, VA - July 2007 to Present

Manage construction projects at secure locations worldwide. Site Project Manager duties include project estimation, project mobilization, take off and tool lists. Ensure quality and manage customer communications on from site. Manage project budget, schedule and subcontractors. Perform pre-construction site surveys to evaluate work to be performed, coordinate with all stakeholders and plan project phasing. Conduct daily progress inspections to ensure that construction is on schedule and verify that quality work is being performed per the design and specifications. As a working Project Manager / Superintendent, I am a skilled carpenter as well as capable of contributing to work in all trades.

Key Projects:

Baghdad, Iraq: Construction of 18 new blast and ballistic guard towers. Project was valued in excess of $7M.

Adana, Turkey and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia: Notifier fire alarm install including the programming and design modifications on site.

Grand Cane, Louisiana: Night shift for the fabrication of a blast and ballistic modular building to be installed at an OCONUS location.

New York, NY: New construction build-out of a secure office floor in a Federal building. Project was valued in excess of $7M.

Cape Town, South Africa: Renovation of a secure office suite.

During my time with FDC I have also worked in the trades as a skilled carpenter, fire alarm tech, telecomm, and electrician assistant.

Construction Manager / Owner: Carolina Dog Construction, Asheville, NC

Specialized construction projects to provide accessibility modifications for residential customers. As owner of the company I performed complete cradle to grave management of each job. Worked with customers, referral sources, funding sources and vendors to provide the best overall project value. Jobs included: additions, structural modification, layout and design improvements.

Superintendent: Sankey Construction Inc., Asheville, NC

January 2004 to February 2005, March 2006 to June 2007

Managed multiple single and multi-family residential construction sites. Responsibilities included proposal bidding, creating and maintaining budgets. Hired subcontractors and assured that all subcontractors performed jobs properly and to contract specifications, sourced building materials at best possible quality and price. Performed Quality Control to ensure that projects conformed to building codes and schedules. Managed contract change orders and dynamic customer requirements to process changes orders and options. Actively pursued construction methods to provide better quality homes at reduced costs.

Industrial Contracts Manager: Goodwill Industries of NWNC Inc, Asheville, NC

July 2001 - January 2004

Responsible for the management of a 29K sq ft warehouse and manufacturing facility. As the Contracts Manager I was specifically responsible for the sale and marketing of Goodwill services to corporations of various sizes. Based on customer requirements I generated contracts to fit customer needs while maintaining profitability and quality assurance. Managed all operational aspects of the facility including establishing and implementing the operations budget, employee training based on dynamic contract requirements and staffing. Implemented and managed a performance based pay system for all production and warehouse staff. For all projects I ensured that all regulatory standards were met or exceeded including NISH, CARF and DOL specifications. Returned the business to profitable in one year, following twelve years of reported losses.

Production Manager: JITCO Inc, Fletcher, NC

November 1999 - July 2001

Managed all aspects of production facility including staff, maintenance, shipping and receiving. Increased production 48% by implementing production practices with higher efficiency and less down time. Changed shift structure to eliminate planned overtime while increasing production capability. Stabilized work force and cross-trained all employees to implement team structure as a tool to further increase production. Responsibilities included hiring and training of personnel, budgeting operation costs, schedule planning and implementation. As the Quality Program Manager for the entire company I designed and implemented the current Quality Program.

Warehouse Manager: Medical Action Industries Inc, Arden, NC

August 1997 - April 1999

Managed 175K sq ft warehouse including a full-time staff of 24 employees. Consolidated an existing separate warehouse and production site into a single facility to increase site efficiency. Prepared all aspects of the supply chain to meet ISO 9002 standards and successfully obtained ISO 9002 certification. Solely responsible for all personnel management issues including the hiring and training of all warehouse staff, schedule management and performance evaluations. Managed evaluation and purchasing of all capital expenditures to achieve increased warehouse efficiency and cost savings.

Warehouse Manager: Andrex Industries, Asheville, NC

March 1996 - August 1997

Provided material support to all facets of a fabric manufacturing facility. Managed personnel, product and inventory for warehouse facilities as well as the sample department. Provided 24-hour turnaround on all orders due to increased efficiency and schedule coordination efforts. Initiated and performed the consolidation of two existing warehouses to increase cost effectiveness as well as productivity. Saved $50K annually through inventory streamlining and liquidation of unused assets. Developed an inventory database to provide more accurate and efficient accounting procedures. Created and conducted training for new inventory methods for all warehouse employees.

Night Supervisor: United Parcel Service, Chantilly, VA

March 1994 - February 1996

Supervised five main distribution centers for international and domestic packages and express mail services. Managed customer service counter and provided practical solutions to all complaints that were received. Collected and accounted for all cash-on-delivery moneys totaling over $50K each evening.
