Director, EHS Affairs
Develop and administer corporate programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS issues throughout North America. Manage $2M budget and supervise 8 direct reports. Awarded for 5 consecutive years the “Award of Excellence” from the National Safety Council for this performance in 2010.
• Earned FM Global HPR award, reduced risks, and saved $75K in annual costs by managing $850K project to retrofit facility for control of combustible dust hazards. Ensured compliance with all NFPA, FM Global, and OSHA guidelines.
• Installed/modified equipment and developed policies & procedures which reduced waste by 85% and saved $350K in disposal and inventory costs during period of 15% production growth.
• Conducted corporate audits and IH surveys to analyze processes, compliance assurance, and minimizing potential risks to the employees, corporate facilities and selected external partners.
• Practicing Lean Manufacturing – using six sigma best practices to improve operational efficiencies to achieve financial goals. For example, streamlined process controls and saved $127K in annual operating costs by leading Six Sigma process improvement initiative in Finishing Applications in 2009.

Negotiating member on Superfund Site Technical Committees in EPA Regions I and VI, aimed at minimizing both costs and potential exposure to the company.
Corporate Manager, Safety & Environmental Engineering
Established EHS strategic direction and targeted policies for all facilities in U.S. and Canada. Led OPS due diligence efforts for bankruptcy process and subsequent purchase of Top-Flite Company by Callaway Golf in 2003. Developed and implemented environmental management system that mirrored ISO 14001 requirements. Performed industrial hygiene studies to ensure compliance, control exposures, and protect company assets.
• Became first company in Massachusetts to obtain air emission credits, which were banked and utilized to offset future production expansion initiatives.
• Led company to receive EPA’s Environmental Merit Award in 2000 for significant contributions in developing and leading EPA Performance Track program.
• Developed strategic plan to bring new facility to full operational status within 6 months of acquisition. Set up operations and manufacturing which included obtained permits, reviewed zoning requirements, conducted site assessments, and trained all employees.
• Administered IH program to control adverse occupational exposures following introduction of methyl di-phenyl isocyanate. Researched material, set equipment parameters, defined training protocols, conducted air sampling, and prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Chairman of Chicopee's Emergency Planning Commission (SARA Title III) – To oversee the preparation and submission of the city’s emergency preparedness plan to the MA SERC, partnering with both City and industry officials.
Environmental / Safety Engineering Supervisor
Led day-to-day operations at Massachusetts and New York facilities. Hired, trained, and supervised technical staff and monitored/measured performance to ensure compliance. Championed and managed initiatives to enhance environmental performance, increase efficiency, and reduce regulatory costs.
