I am seeking employment as a Health Care Representative/Patient Advocate

with Chamberlin Edmonds who advocates for the patient/client through multiple avenues. I believe that Chamberlin Edmonds will allow me the opportunity to make a difference in a person’s life. Especially now, with where the level of economic turndown stands. I am one of those people who care, not because I have the training to fill out paper work, but because through experience I understand.

I have worked in the medical field for approximately 40 yrs; in nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living and private/ home health care facilities. Therefore, I have the knowledge to accurately deal with patients, work with Dr’s, Nurse, hospital staff, and interpret medical records and information, I have had case management experience through the fire service, DHS Child Welfare, as well, dealt with case management as a CNA. I have the required computer and data skills you have asked for and use Micro Soft Office every day. I have held positions with Volunteers in Medicine Clinic in Springfield Oregon as a front office worker, eligibility and scheduling worker, and a medical referral assistant. I have also worked in the capacity of secretary and treasurer for the Fire Chiefs Association, Firefighters Association, and the Assembly of God Church in the state of Oregon. I also held Lieutenant, Captain, State Certified Instructor, and Firs inspector positions, and had to deal with many state and federal entities. I am also a past business owner.

I have knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, SSD, SSA, and DSHS; however, I am not fluent in their entirety. I have had two years of Spanish, but again do not speak the language fluently. I have no problem with comprehension and understanding of how to file documents dealing with the state, or insurance companies. I have the ability to research and find information and assistance needed to the complete tasks required of me. I am a fast learner and am confident that I can learn what is needed to complete the requirements of this job.

TEACHING:

Volunteer and Academic Activities:

I volunteered with the American Red Cross blood drive through Umpqua Community College (UCC) being responsible for making sure all areas of the drive ran cohesively.

I organized fundraisers for fire victims, and created fire-training programs that included the Stop, Drop and Roll theme and taught these programs to Primary, and Middle schools.

I was the treasurer and secretary for the Douglas County Fire Fighter’s and Fire Chiefs Associations in the state of Oregon.

I also participated in the organization of the first women’s and junior fire fighting team in Southern Oregon.

I volunteered for projects in the church I attended, such as president of the Women’s Ministry Program. My duties included; presiding over business meetings, developing different programs and appointing the personnel needed, creating skits, and managing fund raising programs, to aid the needy, as well as raise money for our church programs.

I volunteered with Umpqua Community Action Network writing a new business concept for the Administrator. I interned with the Public Relations Department at Umpqua Community College, and volunteered with the highway cleanup projects, Senior Citizen projects, and Food for the Needy Project.
