• Meet with prospect to ascertain the real borrowing need and determine eligibility. The primary focus for a BDO is to interview potential loan applicants, identify the need, assess eligibility and convert prospect into a borrower by convincing eligible prospects to apply for a loan and accept the Bank’s lending terms and conditions.

• Assist prospect with completion of Bank application and supporting materials. Once eligibility has been determined, a BDO is responsible for getting the prospect complete and compile the information needed by a loan committee to make a decision ascertaining to that file.

• Advise prospects of terms and conditions of loan approvals and/or declines. Once the bank has approved a loan request, the BDO must convince the borrower to accept the bank’s term’s and conditions and conversely, if a loan decision is declined, the BDO is also required to inform the customer of the same.

• Facilitate processing of loan requests: drafting proposal letters, gathering required underwriting information and assisting credit analyst with loan documentation.

• Assist in facilitating closing needs between bank counsel and borrower/borrower’s counsel when needed.

• Ongoing maintenance of relationship via periodic field visits, telephone interviews to ascertain how business is doing, how collateral is maintained and if any new financing is required.
